FIVE millions workers are to be hit by tax rises within weeks that will cost them hundreds extra a year.
It comes as millions of UK households are already battling a cost of living crisis which is forcing some to choose between heating and eating.
From April, National Insurance Contributions will go up by 1.25 percentage points, costing the average worker hundreds of pounds more a year.
At the same time, income tax bands are being frozen, meaning workers are effectively taking a pay cut.
Soaring inflation is pushing up the price of everything from energy bills to groceries.
Wait until people see what it's going to cost them in April.
They won't be happy...
Citizens of socialism are generally poor.
Citizens of freedom and a Free Constitutional Republic are generally better off than anyone else in the world. The Left is trying to fix that problem.
This is partly why I retired once my home was paid off. We have a nice garden, plenty of edible wildlife, and can heat our home and shop with our 25 acres of woods. At least currently, our SS payments are about four times our cost of living. And they are tax free (federal and state).
But they can save money because there's nothing to buy.
You did well. Congrats for thinking ahead!
The Left wants equality by making everyone poor.
Johnson and the Tories are not Friends of the working class.
Get rid of him and his wife, Princess Nut Nuts.
You’re in a very fortunate position but do you think the next generation will be able to do the same?
I fear my generation will have to work until we drop dead
The real tax increase on the poor was inflation. After Governments using this ploy for literally over thousands of years you’d think people would have figured it out by now.
You did well. Congrats for thinking ahead!
As my son said when he finally came out to see it, “this could be a compound”. Our whole family could live here.
Everyone, except for themselves. Because they are so important. To themselves.
Over 50% of American families pay either no taxes or extremely low taxes because they are “low income”. A huge tax increase would have virtually no monetary impact on them (is this the definition of “fair share”?). Things are relative.
This UK increase is the equivalent of Soc Sec & Medicare taxes, which no one employed avoids, no matter how modest the income.
See...free stuff really isn’t free.
I was in Budapest a few years ago and our guide, a girl in her early 20’s, and as we drove by a hospital she mentioned that health care was free in Hungary. I mumbled “Subsidized”. Then we drove by a university campus she said you can go to college for free in Hungary. I mumbled “Subsidized tuition”. She heard me and asked what I meant. And I told her neither was free, but subsidized through taxes. She said no, it was free. I asked if anyone could go to university free. She admitted there was a very difficult qualifying exam, but it was free to those who passed. I asked her what her income tax rate was. I was surprised she knew, but it was 42%. She said the only other tax was a 17% VAT tax on sales, but excluded food and outdoor concerts (why??). I then told her that 51% of income earners in the US pay no income taxes and most sales taxes are less than 8%.
So, tell me again how that stuff is free.
Say what we will about UK, but they are at least trying to pay for their excessive spending.
Old hotness: Central American Refugees.
New hotness: United Kingdom Refugees?
New hotness UK chicks?
Have you seen pics of the effects of too much beer & Fish-N-Chips? Look at the pics when these rotund ones out cavorting on New Years Eve! Drunk & fat is apparently they way to go through life on old Blighty!
This too was part of the plan. Coming here.
Without that increase the NHS could implode, so much for Socialized Medicine. They have no choice and that choice is coming here very soon. Like your Medicare and Medicaid, get ready to say goodbye to one or both or Medicaid goes belly up and only rationing will save Medicare.
