Way too many storylines to follow.
David Martin of CBS, like Jen Griffith of FNC, is a convenient mouthpiece for a Democrat-run DoD. Quite happy to repeat whatever the political appointees in the Pentagon (and their friends at the senior officer/civil service level) are providing. Only a couple of problems with his reporting.
First, if a Russian invasion is imminent (and it is), maneuver plans were finalized/disseminated days ago. Any work being done now is simply tweaking what is already planned. And if unit commanders are just now formulating maneuver plans, the invasion may yet days, even weeks away, which would contradict the Biden Admin narrative.
Secondly, the Russians are masters of maskirovka, their term for military deception. It’s fully integrated into their doctrine, planning and operations. Whatever we’ve learned, there’s a pretty good chance the Russians wanted us to see it. Conversely, Russia is also well-practiced in concealing potential military surprises and introducing misleading info into the intelligence flow. After all, US/NATO intelligence types predicted a Russian invasion last Wednesday was a done deal. So much for the accuracy of that assessment—and some of the intel that produced it.
Well you can’t see the Big Geopolitical Picture can you. China is the enemy and has been, not too hard to figure that out.
By the way at least 27 Million Russians died in W.W. II, something they don’t forget, without their sacrifice D-Day would never have happened and it kept our casualty rates extremely low in comparison. If you haven’t read anything on the War on the Eastern Front do so, it was horrifying and brutal beyond belief. That is why we need to throw out Cold War thinking and make them our Allies, not our adversaries.

He was purging his army of it’s best commanders, he certainly was not preparing for war with Germany.
He was also supplying the Wehrmacht, and his agents were here telling the US to “stay out of the war”.

The Russians allied with Hitler to divide up Poland and other parts of Europe. So, they reaped what they sowed.
