Alec Baldwin and wife Hilaria head out for coffee in NYC as Santa Fe DA reveals actor might have fired the gun that killed Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins 'without pulling the trigger'

Alec Baldwin was spotted heading out for coffee in New York City on Saturday, as a New Mexico DA revealed it was possible the actor might have fired the bullet that killed Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins without pulling the trigger.

The breakthrough revelation by Santa Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies comes just days after Hutchins' family sued the beleaguered actor, claiming he is in 'complete denial' of his role in her death and is 'blaming others' over the October 21 shooting.

The slain cinematographer's family also claimed Baldwin, 63, is 'not accepting any responsibility' for her sudden death last year and noted that he 'refused any gun safety training, number one.'

It’s as the anti-gun groups have feared all along: guns have become self-aware. But they don’t run things yet, so we still have time.

Good lord. He has admitted it. He said that he pulled back the hammer without cocking it.....and let it go. The hammer striking the bullet is how a shot is fired, not pulling the trigger necessarily. Pulling the trigger releases the hammer to strike the bullet. In this case, and admittedly, Baldwin WAS the trigger.

Of course he did.

I posted this back on October 28, 2021:

Why would he practice in front of the camera? Why not a mirror?

I think he was just killing time while the director and cinematographer were setting up the camera for the scene.

The earliest reports were that there was no film of the incident because the crews were still setting up the cameras for the angles required for the scene.

Baldwin may have been fidgety due to the delay, and started practicing his draw movements while the crew were still moving about. They may have even needed him to be in position for proper blocking of the scene in the camera's viewport. While he was standing there, the propmaster should have kept possession of the gun, only handing it to Baldwin when the director was ready for action.

Now that we know it was a single-action Colt 45 replica gun, I'm thinking that Baldwin was pulling the hammer back with his thumb while drawing the pistol, and in the afternoon New Mexico heat his hand was probably sweaty, the hammer slipped and snapped back and set off the round in the chamber.

He probably never actually pulled the trigger.

The Hutchins family lawyer's animation of what happened seems to match the first part of my post. Baldwin was in position while the crew was setting up the camera when the gun went off.

Yeah, that is what he admitted on national TV. It was a single action revolver. Hammer slipped from his thumb and fired the projectile. Trigger not necessary. More lawsuits will fly.

You have six bullets in the cylinder. One of them is the live round. It seems strange that the live round was in the right position to be hit by the hammer. I suspect Baldwin got it in the right position to fire. Halyna Hutchins had to be eliminated to protect his marriage.

That always got me, too. Two gun masters have already proved he had to pull the trigger.

But what's really weird is that RUST is about a man who accidently kills someone.

I wish we could see/read the director's script (and other copies...the ones that have the commands/comments written in. The RUST script is the clue. Baldwin co-wrote it. He also picked out the gun he would use.

His father was taught riflery....Alec knows guns. I bet his dad had a nice collection.

And I find it hard to believe that no one was filming the kill scene.

I believe most prenups have a clause that says...if hubby scr*** around, wife gets pretty much everything.

At minimum still negligent and reckless, yes?

So still in criminal jeopardy?

He is, no doubt, taking that as a ‘not guilty’ verdict.

He is at least a third responsible.

There were a lot of corners cut and he didn’t even bother to show up at the safety presentation for the cross draw nor check the gun before he fired it.

That DA needs to be removed.

Hill and Kill are the most hated people in the world right now, next to Blackface Hitler in Canada.

A police officer struggles with a suspect and accidentally pulls her pistol instead of her taser.

She is immediately in prison and taken to trial.

An actor intentionally points a functioning weapon at other humans and it discharges, killing one and wounding another. Charges to be dropped.

This is the type of inconsistent justice we are fed up with.

Sure. He decided to do it after meeting with Brian Laundrie and Loretta Fuddy in Costa Rica. The conversation was taped on a server in Frankfurt Germany.
General Flynn and Lin Wood are hitching up with the Cold Case Posse to bring Baldwin to justiceā€¦

Why is the DA doing interviews with Vanity Fair while the investigation is ongoing?

We have a start struck DA.

It all depends on whose model six shooter he was using.
Ruger abd some others have a safety gate which keeps the revolver from firing unless you cock the hammer AND pull back the trigger.

ORIGINAL single action revolvers and MANY repros require only pulling the hammer back and releasing it, or striking the hammer if its resting on a chamber with a round in it.
Which why “cowboys” kept the hammer resting on an empty chamber.

BUT SO WHAT? Clearly he either lacked familiarity with the weapon or is lying, and she is dead because he was playing around with a gun with a live round in it and pointed it at her.

He is an arrogant ass, and, unfortunately, it looks like he will wiggle out of it in our two tiered justice system
