Gu is golden: Eileen Gu's dominant halfpipe victory for China caps stellar Olympics [AOL]

The legend of Eileen Gu continues to grow in China.

Gu, the American-born freestyle skier now competing for China, had already won a gold and a silver medal. Friday morning, under an ice-blue sky and in surprisingly warm temperatures of 12 degrees Fahrenheit, Gu dropped into the halfpipe for her third and final event of the Games.

Two runs later, she’d captured her second gold of the Olympics, and her stature in China had grown immeasurably.

In China, Gu is the face of these Games, her image and likeness appearing on billboards, in commercials, and on the omnipresent official Beijing Olympic shopping bags. She’s a hero to millions of girls in China.

But with her growing image has come controversy, with many American critics questioning her decision to ski for the country of her mother’s birth, along with unanswered questions about the truth of her citizenship status. Gu has resolutely declined to answer all questions about her citizenship or other geopolitical issues at these Games.

Instead, Gu has done her talking on skis.

Gu considers halfpipe her best event, and in qualifying, she proved it, recording the best score of all competitors and earning the right to ski last in the three-run finals. She seemed to lose a bit of momentum on her first run, not quite carving up the sky the way she has in previous events. But even that was enough to earn her first place after the initial round; her score of 93.25 drew raucous cheers from the heavily Chinese fans gathered at the base of the halfpipe.

Her second run was even better, earning a 95.25. That held up for the rest of the event, and Gu won her second gold of the Games.

Gu is American born?

She was also educated here under our protection. She learned to ski and trained at the same ski areas that my family skis at. The money to pay for that and the training came from us. Her rotten, stinking coward Daddy - who won’t show his face - exploits the American financial system for his immense wealth.

She sides with the Chinese because in her mind, she shows her genetic superiority off to people who agree with her. She forgets that really, millions of people could do it if they were given the cash and opportunity.

Both of which came from...the Americans.

So she wasn’t just “born here”. She took and took and took and took from us: the big SAT score? That’s from the training camps all over the SF Bay where they spend 9 months prepping for the test at $1500/month. Run mostly by...Chinese.

Everything she got was from the Americans. Look how she treats us.

What amazes me is how many people consider immigration from a non-western hostile power as “good for America.” As for the other thing, blood only flows two ways in men.

Can’t, she’s a US citizen. Interestingly though the US doesn’t address the issue, China bans dual citizenship. So to become a citizen of China thus eligible to compete in the Olympics, she would had to renounce her US citizenship. Maybe she did and no one knows. Unlikely since I think that’s public knowledge. But she’s competing for China, and quite a celebrity, apparently worth in the $40 million range pre Olympics from advertising, so no one is going to complain.

If our Government weren't total shills and bagmen for the CCP, she would have her citizenship revoked, put on an "Enemy of the State" list and her parent's assets seized.

Of course, if we were a serious country we would have objected to any games being held in Communist China and hopefully not have supported this farce in any way.

But our people got paid off long ago and the IOC doesn't care.

Well, our universities are filled with actual mainland Chinese students (Gu was born here in the US of A which makes her case particularly bad) which really baffles me - why do we educate our enemies?

I think most of the money is from modeling, not sports related.
Plenty of rich girls release porn crap anyway.
She is intelligent, but has daddy issues.

Any law that forbids stopping her from being expelled needs to change then. Our enemies are using our laws and tools against us, in ways those laws don't protect against, (duel citizenship etc).

That is what Brandon, Justin and the CCP would do. If we don't start waging lawfare back we are going to be legally required to sell the rope the Communists will use to hang us with.

why do we educate our enemies?

Biden, Pelosi, the BUSHES et al have been getting 10% of every deal since at least the '70s it seems to me. :/

Agree.

But she’ll be welcome with open arms here in the US. Liberals, Hipsters, Instagram/TikTok/Snapchat drones, and 20-somethings will flock to her. She’ll be a hero.

I don’t support expelling American citizens because we don’t like the nationality of her mother. She didn’t take advantage of our laws, though there seems to be a serious question of how she could compete for China if she’s not a citizen. Obviously China may not care in this case though they say she was nationalized. Which would mean she gave up her US citizenship, or they made an exception. The Olympic committee apparently doesn’t care, but US law isn’t involved.

Naw, she's attractive and has a bit of celebrity attached to her. She's already proven that she'll do anything, like renouncing her birth right, for money. She'll end up as arm candy and bed warmer for some CCP big wig.

I suspect that what you say is true. Many nations don't allow dual citizenship and I can easily see Red China being one of them. However, her scheme might be that in order to have your renunciation of US citizenship officially recognized by the State Department there are certain facts that must be established. These facts have been spelled out in numerous Federal court rulings...at least one of them being from SCOTUS.

So,she could present an official renunciation of US citizenship to Red Chinese officials, thus allowing her to be declared a Chinese citizen and then later turn around and cite the exceptions I've mentioned and thus be allowed to maintain US citizenship.

I know this stuff because I've researched it rather deeply.Long story as to why I researched it though.
