Yes, this will be reparations, white guilt, reverse racism, screwing Asians and hispanics, etc.

The United States abolished slavery in 1865. Not the first to do so. Great Britain did so in 1833. France in 1848. An institution that had existed from time immemorial, and the United States took an extra 32 years. For that 32 years, they must be forever punished.

And the U.S. was certainly not the last country to abolish it. Cuba, Brazil, Korea, Egypt... all after 1865. It still exists, of course, in some parts of the world, but only the U.S. is culpable. Not the European powers that set it up. Not the African and Arab traders that fueled it. Nope, just the U.S.

And if you want to get technical, parts of what is now the U.S., in New England were among the first places anywhere that banned slavery. Credit for that? Nope.

Look, of course the history of slavery is reprehensible. Do I wish that it had never existed here (or anywhere)? Of course. But in my view, America was on the forefront of it's abolition in the 19th century, if you take the long view of history. And, what about all of the efforts by the United States to fight for freedom throughout the world since the Civil War? No credit there either? This stuff just drives me nuts.
