“They are NOT ‘Law Enforcement’ - law enforcement would be County Sheriff’s, which unlike ‘police’, are Constitutional.”
The name doesn’t matter, the organization doesn’t matter, it’s who pays and orders them that matters.
Whether it’s the police, sheriff, CIA, FBI, the military they’re all mercenaries (”forces of order”) doing the bidding of those who pay and command them.
And I’m not using “mercenary” as a negative term, but simply as a descriptor of what in reality they are.
Now some of them might have their own strong beliefs regarding the righteousness of a particular order and decide they don’t want to follow it and quit, but for the most part they will follow the orders because they have a mortgage to pay, family to feed, tuitions to pay...
In other words, it’s simple human nature.
So if you want the forces of order to enforce what you believe is right, you better make sure that the ones ordering them believe the same thing you do.
I have no idea where people come up with the idea that “the Sheriff” is the only Constitutional law enforcement officer.
The word “Sheriff” does not appear in the Constitution.
