Texas receives abandoned materials from federal government for border wall

The federal government donated millions of dollars' worth of border wall material to Texas as the state continues the construction project defunded by the Biden administration.

More than 1,700 steel panels now designated as surplus property of the federal government were shipped from California to Texas last week to be used in Gov. Greg Abbott's state-funded barrier on the Mexican border. The Texas Facilities Commission applied in November for the 32-foot steel bollard panels through the General Services Administration, which oversees the distribution of property no longer needed by the federal government, TFC spokeswoman Francoise Luca told the Washington Examiner.

The panels, worth around $6 million, are enough to construct about 1.7 miles of wall on the border, which is more than 1,250 miles long. Though provided to the state free of cost, Texas spent about $2 million on transporting the material from California. Abbott, a Republican, has more than a billion dollars dedicated to the project, with over $55 million from private donations, according to the Texas Tribune.

Building a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border was a priority of former President Donald Trump during his 2016 campaign and administration.

President Joe Biden stopped construction of the border wall when he took office in January 2021, leaving about $265 million worth of building materials unused and often left in the desert at dormant construction sites, Tucson.com reported. The materials can be granted to states, local governments, and nonprofit organizations that could find uses for them. Luca said the state is open to finding more material for the border wall through this process.

"We will continue to monitor the General Services Administration material list, and if there's ever anything that we can use for construction, we're open to that," Luca said.

Abbott broke ground on the first part of the Texas-funded border wall in Rio Grande City in December.

Key Takeaways:

-The Texas border wall received 1,700 steel panels from the federal government.

-The materials come from the General Services Administration, which handles redistribution of unused materials.

-When Biden halted construction on Trump’s wall, $265 million worth of materials were simply left in the desert.

Makes you wonder if some GSA admin type is risking his job by doing what the law requires...

Just wait, some “emergency” will be concocted in the coming days that says the fencing is vital to some other task, like building walls on the Ukrainian border.

And if the Governor had any balls, he would begin SEIZING the Homes of every Federal Official,Judges.Lawyers,Executives... in the entire State, using the Kelo Decision as his Authority, Turn them into AirBNB or Lost Liberty Hotels with the proceeds used for the Labor to build the wall.

The Supreme Court has Ruled, NOTHING CAN STOP HIM

"$265 million worth of materials were simply left in the desert."

Apparently, the Taliban decided it already had too much U.S. deserted goodies, so they declined taking the border wall stuff...

Gov. Abbot should hire the crew from We Build the Wall. Foreman Big Mike. They did an amazing job near El Paso. Closed off a critical area.

What is happening in Texas?

The Biden EO’s have been rescinded by the courts but every evening I see video clips of illegals being apprehended by the Border Patrol.

Are those illegals still being flown to blue zone places like Chapel Hill NC where they go to work for contractors hired by Target?
