number of major Canadian banks were hit by an hours-long outage on Wednesday. The outage happened one day after the Canadian Government invoked the Emergencies Act, giving officials the authority to freeze bank accounts of suspects, seize protesters’ trucks, and suspend their vehicle insurance.
Five Major Canadian Banks Halt Services for Customers On Wednesday, five major Canadian banks suffered an hours-long outage, blocking access to online banking and e-transfer services for customers. The impacted banks include Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), BMO (Bank of Montreal), Scotiabank, TD Bank Canada, and the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC).
The RBC, Canada’s largest bank in terms of market capitalization, confirmed the outage in a tweet. During the late hours of Wednesday, when asked about why the bank is down, it said:
“We are currently experiencing technical issues with our online and mobile banking, as well as our phone systems. Our experts are investigating and working to get this fixed as quickly as possible, but we have no ETA to provide at this time.”
However, data shows that other Canadian banks were also hit by outages between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. Eastern time.

They took the banks down so they could freeze the accounts before they close them out.
That’s when they were installing the patch to shut off banking to liberty-loving Canadians.
Can people visit the bank in person and get their money?
Based on anecdotal evidence from several FReepers that have accounts with the big banks in Canada, no outage was experienced.
Freezing the assets of truckers told everyone in Canada that their money was no longer “theirs” if it was in banks.
Go ahead. Give people a whiff of the idea that their money may not be safe in the bank. See what happens, geniuses.

We took steps after our bank closed to all transactions including access to our safety deposit box when the branch was closed for a week to decontaminate from a couple of covid positive bank employees.
This action by the Canadian banks simply seals our view of bank safety and one’s assets.
Maybe I’m the only one who remembers there were a number of utility trucks scattered in the convoys? His Trudeauxness really, really, needs to be polite. The guys in those convoys know how gov’t krap works. The know where the important stuff is.
One of my old trucker friends used to tell me that he knew where stuff is/was happening because he delivered water to the places. More water/ less water coming/ going, etc.
And you had to like the interviewed trucker who said go ahead, freeze my account. I don’t have any money. Maybe they’ll put some in when they leave?
They’re just showing the Plebes who is boss.
Meanwhile...the “hacker known as 4chan” is going after “journos” who have acquired the hacked GiveSendGo list to harass trucker donors.
They got one with a Salt Lake publication. He is getting a “rectal examination” ATM.
Whew, boy!
And they expected just what exactly?
It looks like the Black Market and the barter system are going to be making a big comeback.
Depends.
Most Financial places only keep a certain amount of cash on hand.Checks don’t work when the communications systems are down.
Always keep a significant amount of money at home because the “Bank” won’t have it when you need it.
