Not being an attorney, I am not familiar with the vagaries of the law. But I remember an incident where an individual facing the possibility of criminal charges answered a number of questions but than pleaded the Fifth when they got to the possible criminal conduct. Some judge ruled it was too late to plead the Fifth once the person had answered other questions that could be related to criminal conduct. . Not sure what happened after, if the judge was overruled on appeal or what not. I just remember it because it was interesting.
Seems to me, Trump and family should simply claim the fifth and not answer a single question.
Ending in a show trial
Go ahead and testify Trump. Give em hell.
The intangible value of a brand name like Trump is very hard to quantify. Same exact building and location - 50 mil, Trump name 250 mil.
Democrats are evil scum.
Well, for you and I that's true. It's true for him too but he's also a public figure and it would be front page every night: "He admitted it! He admitted it!"
I hire certified public accountants and lawyer to do that.
They should this in Australia where there are plenty of kangaroos for their court.
Courts ruled that Brandon must open up oil leases on federal land too. So far, courts 0, Brandon 2 on ignoring.
Of course, he hired many. It's a qualitative process, not quantitative so of course you push for higher valuation for borrowing purposes. You don't see the value of a skyscraper or golf course listed in the paper daily.
I used to give depositions for an oil and gas company. I don’t know…. I can’t remember…. I’m not certain…. I wouldn’t want to speculate…. I can’t be sure…..
“If this is a criminal case, how can he be forced to testify against himself? All he has to say is Fifth Amendment.”
Read the first sentence of the article. It clearly states this is a civil investigation: “Former President Donald Trump must answer questions under oath in New York state’s civil investigation into his business practices, a judge ruled Thursday.”
There's an actual accounting name for it: goodwill. Quick definition: "An intangible asset that is acquired when one company purchases another is known as goodwill. In other words, goodwill refers to the portion of the purchase price that surpasses the aggregate net fair value of all the assets acquired in the acquisition and all the liabilities assumed. Among the factors that define goodwill are brand recognition, a solid customer base, good customer relations, good employee relations, and proprietary technology. The items that makeup goodwill are intellectual property and brand recognition, which cannot be easily measured."
It's not just via a purchase. a business can have "inherent goodwill" which "represents the business's value in excess of its separable net assets. Developing inherent goodwill is an internal process that occurs over time as a result of reputation. It could go either ways, positive or negative."
No. This is yet another attempt of the feckless Communist/Left in this country to damage Trump's influence with the upcoming midterm election and beyond.
I believe you would need an opposition party for that to happen.
Trump name, priceless.
Donald! Use the tried and true Bill & Hillary Clinton court precedent: “I have no specific recollection of that”.
It’s called goodwill. Impossible to put an exact price on it.
Have the deposition in a big stadium, like Shea or Carnegie Hall or Radio City, with deplorables in attendance, raucously cheering and chanting as the attorneys strive to keep order. Have judgy-wudgy there to get apoplectic banging his gavel.
Most Freepers at least read the title before posting nonsense.
