If folks are going to buy something; then they’ll buy it!
They ain’t about to pout just because they didn’t get to the store when it was open, but they’ll get there the next day.
I missed Happy Hour by 15 minutes this evening!
When and Where You Can Buy Alcohol in Indiana
According to state law, alcohol can be sold between 7 a.m. and 3 a.m. throughout the week. However, alcohol sales at liquor, grocery, and convenience stores are limited from noon to 8 p.m. on Sundays. Indiana, along with 25 other states, allow alcohol to be sold at grocery stores.
Prior to 2010, alcohol sales were banned on election day. Historians speculate that this rule had ties to the tradition of taverns being used as public gathering spaces and polling stations. Today, Hoosiers are permitted to enjoy a drink and vote on the same day.
Once again, sorry for your situation. I lived in rural Southern Indiana growing up in the late 60’s & 70’s, we did not see total closures like you describe.
Thinking about this situation due to this thread, nothing has changed. I now live out on the Pacific Northwest Coast and instead of Sabbath laws, we just don’t have the population needed to have local health care options. The closest level 2 trauma center is several hours away and if you really need help, a helicopter ride to Seattle.
I carry an insurance rider for helicopter transportation in case of a serious emergency.
