Yes, what might be best described as humanitarian aid to an Israeli aid organization. But here, we are talking about funds to aid protests, protests that likely will result in non-confidence vote and ouster of Trudeau. We’ve had our own issues with foreigners meddling in our political affairs. My point is that if we argue and give money for foreign political efforts, then we need to allow that here as well. Thus, I’d say no to both as I don’t want to see rich Soros-like folks, maybe others even more objectionable donating money to forment or sustain political efforts in the US—communists, Islamic cult, socialists, etc.

I think the comments about closing bank accounts of Trump supporters was meant to apply to Canadian supporters of Trump.
The government has been trying to establish the idea that the freedom convoys are heavily financed by U.S. based donors and that it is not any sort of authentic Canadian political movement. It is really not easy to estimate what percentage of the funds collected (and then not available) for the convoys came from U.S. donors. It could be a lot, it could be next to nothing.
But it’s clear that the vast majority of the people active in the convoys are Canadian citizens and residents. There were a few sympathetic Americans who came across to join in, but you don’t see any U.S. licence plates on the convoy vehicles.
There are numerous people with dual citizenship on both sides of the border. Not everyone is either an American or a Canadian, some people consider themselves to be some kind of hybrid. I don’t have an opinion on it, and if I did it wouldn’t matter.
But for whatever faults this government emergency declaration may have, I don’t think tampering with U.S. bank accounts is going to be one of them. So far I think they have just gone after a few key organizers of the convoys, not the large number of people who probably gave small amounts weeks ago in the general belief that a freedom convoy protesting mandates would be a good thing. That does not mean said donor gave explicit approval of everything the convoys then went on to do, nor could it mean that, the whole concept of a pre-crime based on later developments is legally rather fuzzy. It’s sort of like saying the teachers at Al Capone’s high school were partly responsible for his crime spree.
