Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau invoked the Emergencies Act on Monday in an effort to crack down on protesters that have shut down parts of Ottawa and various border crossings with the U.S.
Trudeau informed his cabinet and Canada’s premiers of his intent Monday morning. The prime minister’s announcement marks the first time the act, which replaced the War Measures Act in 1988, has been employed.
“After discussing with cabinet and caucus, after consultation with premiers from all provinces and territories, the federal government has invoked the emergencies act to supplement provincial and territorial capacity to address the blockades and occupations,” Trudeau announced in a press conference. “I want to be very clear, the scope of these measures will be time-limited, geographically targeted, as well as reasonable and proportionate to the threats they are meant to address. The emergencies act will be used to strengthen and support law enforcement agencies at all levels across the country.”

Indeed.
A bank run would actually be a great response. They would have to close banks. Demand cash.
Don’t those folks always get a free pass?
This is a declaration of war.

Father God, we pray for mercy upon these truckers and their families. We pray for a hedge of protection round about.
Give us courage and wisdom, as there is a global effort to crush working people.
Give us strength in You.
We pray in the name of Jesus.

I would have liked to see him freeze Antifa bank accounts. I can hear it now, “Hey, Mr. Banker, we were noticing a crack in your big window, and the whole thing just shattered. Well, two of them. Well, all of them. Sorry about the heat loss in February.” And the bankers would just be following orders.
and it's a big pit
I lived in Ottawa and worked there under a 2-year visa. I had to obtain the CAN equivalent of a social security number, get a CAN bank accountant and import/register/reinsure my vehicle. So, except for the time limited nature of my time there, I was fully configured as a Canadian citizen with respect to these items.
My bank in particular and larger CAN banks in general have foreign country subsidiaries by which Canadians can establish bank accounts in that foreign country. I did this with my CAN bank to establish a USA bank account then freely transferred money between the two countries. If I had chosen to, I could have had a third bank account in Great Britain.
It is easy for Canadian citizens to move money out of Canada with the non-Canada bank outside of Canadian government legal jurisdiction. No bank or foreign exchange fees are charged. Five minutes on your laptop or cell phone and whoosh it’s done.
I’m sure there will be lists of names given to banks but with the limited information I’ve seen, banks will be given wide latitude for freezing accounts.
If someone comes into a bank with the intention of withdrawing an entire account, I’m 100% certain the bank will refuse and likely freeze that account. Every person who attempts to withdraw large amounts of cash will be curtailed by Trudeau’s actions.
Nobody’s bank accounts in Canada are safe. It is likely too late to grab the cash and run.
Kinda says it all! No further words needed
He does not care. He’a a privileged one!
He's already given them advance warning. Simply turn all the accounts into joint accounts (if they're not already). Single accounts, withdraw your funds and stick the cash where it can't be found.
People who want crypto money better take note. Without cash in hand you can only buy and sell if the government says you can.
