Not sure when that was but they've been leftist for 50 years, typical NYC liberals.
Toyota Trucks—the choice of terrorists all over the world.
This stuff is quite subjective. Most cars and trucks these days will last a long time if you simply follow the maintenance schedule.
My last Silverado got to almost 200k without rusting. As they say…your mileage might vary.
I looked at Toyota trucks this past spring and I thought they were kind of boring inside. Everyone’s taste is different.
J.D. Power is a marketing firm. You know that right? They get payola.
Well, I do support Free Speech and revere the Constitution and the Founding Fathers, all which the DHS has come out and said is now verboten. Offen ze to der kamps!
“Most cars and trucks these days will last a long time if you simply follow the maintenance schedule.”
Toyotas last a long time even without following the maintenance schedule.
I watched Scotty Kilmer for a while based on recommendations I saw from others but quit when I realized that he was an overhyped idiot and scam artist. He is really good at self promotion and working the YouTube algorithm, but that is about all he is good for.
He is the type of gaslighting liar that claims he is the only one telling the truth, as he tells a lie.
The repairs he shows are only the most basic things, that most people can do. I am an amateur only on my own cars but would easily be able to demonstrate most of the “repair” work he shows.
Some of his repairs aren’t really repairs, but bandaid jobs.
He repeats himself constantly to the point that I was watching a “brand new” video that seemed so familiar I was convinced I had seen it before. But no, he was just repeating himself almost verbatim from a previous video. He has to do that to put out content as regularly as he does.
I do like watching mechanic repair videos on YouTube. Personal favorites:
South Main Auto- Small town mechanic in New York- a nice mix of diagnostic detective work and rusty carnage on the underside of North Eastern salt belt cars.
Pine Hollow Auto Diagnostics- a Pennsylvania mobile diagnosis and repair guy who works on a lot of electrical and computer problems.
I Do Cars- a St Louis based auto recycler who I primarily watch for his teardowns of broken engines.
I've seen South Main Auto, I like that guy. I've not seen the others. Rainman Ray's Repairs is another I like. No BS, just does diagnostic and repair work. Really went after Ford after he had to tear the entire dash out just to change a sensor for the AC that was reading wrong and causing the AC to run overtime to the point it blew the condenser.
Yeah. Scotty is in it for Scotty.
I have only watched one Rainman Ray video and was dismayed when he was driving around a customer’s misfiring car with oil and coolant lights on. The car had multiple problems that he didn’t really dig into like why the coolant wasn’t flowing, and why the oil pressure sensor was not sensing oil even though the crankcase was properly filled. He diagnosed it as loss of coolant and bad water pump probably causing a bad head gasket without removing the intake and quoted a repair to the customer that was more than the value of the car. Obviously the customer declined repair and he may very well have been right, but I am interested to see the whole diagnostic and repair process not a half-assed diagnosis.
>>I won’t be surprised if in 5 to 10 years Korean cars are widely considered to be bulletproof...as is the case with Japanese cars.
Pretty much already there. Those years were - 5-10 years ago!
