The crisis in Ukraine is not about Ukraine, it’s about Germany

“The primordial interest of the United States, over which for centuries we have fought wars- the First, the Second and Cold Wars- has been the relationship between Germany and Russia, because united there, they’re the only force that could threaten us. And to make sure that that doesn’t happen.” George Friedman, STRATFOR CEO at The Chicago Council on Foreign Affairs

NordStream2Map_MW_600x401.jpg

The Ukrainian crisis has nothing to do with Ukraine. It’s about Germany and, in particular, a pipeline that connects Germany to Russia called Nord Stream 2. Washington sees the pipeline as a threat to its primacy in Europe and has tried to sabotage the project at every turn. Even so, Nord Stream has pushed ahead and is now fully-operational and ready-to-go. Once German regulators provide the final certification, the gas deliveries will begin. German homeowners and businesses will have a reliable source of clean and inexpensive energy while Russia will see a significant boost to their gas revenues. It’s a win-win situation for both parties.

The US Foreign Policy establishment is not happy about these developments. They don’t want Germany to become more dependent on Russian gas because commerce builds trust and trust leads to the expansion of trade. As relations grow warmer, more trade barriers are lifted, regulations are eased, travel and tourism increase, and a new security architecture evolves. In a world where Germany and Russia are friends and trading partners, there is no need for US military bases, no need for expensive US-made weapons and missile systems, and no need for NATO.

There’s also no need to transact energy deals in US Dollars or to stockpile US Treasuries to balance accounts. Transactions between business partners can be conducted in their own currencies which is bound to precipitate a sharp decline in the value of the dollar and a dramatic shift in economic power. This is why the Biden administration opposes Nord Stream. It’s not just a pipeline, it’s a window into the future; a future in which Europe and Asia are drawn closer together into a massive free trade zone that increases their mutual power and prosperity while leaving the US on the outside looking in.

Warmer relations between Germany and Russia signal an end to the “unipolar” world order the US has overseen for the last 75 years. A German-Russo alliance threatens to hasten the decline of the Superpower that is presently inching closer to the abyss. This is why Washington is determined to do everything it can to sabotage Nord Stream and keep Germany within its orbit. It’s a matter of survival.

That’s where Ukraine comes into the picture. Ukraine is Washington’s ‘weapon of choice’ for torpedoing Nord Stream and putting a wedge between Germany and Russia. The strategy is taken from page one of the US Foreign Policy Handbook under the rubric: Divide and Rule. Washington needs to create the perception that Russia poses a security threat to Europe. That’s the goal.

They need to show that Putin is a bloodthirsty aggressor with a hair-trigger temper who cannot be trusted. To that end, the media has been given the assignment of reiterating over and over again, “Russia is planning to invade Ukraine.” What’s left unsaid is that Russia has not invaded any country since the dissolution of the Soviet Union, and that the US has invaded or toppled regimes in more than 50 countries in the same period of time, and that the US maintains over 800 military bases in countries around the world. None of this is reported by the media, instead the focus is on “evil Putin” who has amassed an estimated 100,000 troops along the Ukrainian border threatening to plunge all of Europe into another bloody war.

Do not allow AMERICAN CITIZENS to cross a non-American border unless they got the jab, but openly encourage non-Americans to come across the US border without any proof of jab, even if they are infected!

I doubt it's the US' requirement

"The US Foreign Policy establishment is not happy about these developments."

And if they gave a $h!t about the blue-collar frackers and America, they'd convince LGB to Frack Upstate NY, undo all of Biden's Bullfeather anti-energy E.O.'s and Sell Europe our natural gas and undo the fluster cluck they just imposed on Israel and Their natural gas pipeline through Greece then into Europe.

These were the Trumpian Solutions. So Qou Bono, how do these paper pushers benefit, how do they or their family "get a taste" to use a Tony Soprano expression to allow the Germany/Russia mess to continue when real world competitve solutions I outlined exist...

Is it possible to measure the low IQ of these leftists? Totally without honesty, honor, or common sense, not to mention a lack of any wisdom at all.

How our liberal news media can continue to report such nonsense as this is beyond my comprehension. They apparently are willing to die on the hill of Covid-19 vaccinations.

--- "This obsession over a minor disease is making everyone horribly cruel, from Poland to doctors to our neighbors who haven't let our boys be friends for 2 years now."

As to Poland as of 12 February 2022 ---

( 107,757 JHU-official Covid deaths in twenty-five months / 37,780,138 Poles ) x 100 = 0.285 % mortality rate. The inverse tells the survivability rate of Covid in Poland over a twenty-five month long period. 99.715 % survivable throughout the "official pandemic" including the half before the mRNA injections were distributed.

Everything the US and its various agencies are trying to do to gaslight citizens into being injected with "experimentals," all the while shielding the experimental products' manufacturers from legal liability if/when the experiment goes wrong.

Well, TBH, the CFR is the best indicator of how deadly. Is this from the “cases” or from the entire population?

Is that Poland’s policy or just something Joe cooked up ...

Since the Americans are essentially refugees, I would think Poland would welcome them regardless ...

It’s absolutely ridiculous.

But then, not real shocking. The 4 years we knew them both parents showed plenty of evidence of being fear-freaks. Apparently as of last summer they’d only let their kids out once they got vaxed and only vaxed can play with them.

I’m pretty steamed about it. Our back yards are conjoined. They’re all going to be in high school next year but it’s still traumatically heart-breaking for someone who played every chance they got all those years.

---- "Well, TBH, the CFR is the best indicator of how deadly."

That is an assertion. "Dead" is the best indicator "deadly."

Case fatality rate had usually been used -- until this 'pandemic' -- to identify which groups (more than one) within a population are most at risk, comparing one within a population group with another within the same population group.

The lockdown strategy initially proposed by Imperial in the UK (as a proxy for China) ignored age-related risk to assert all were at risk, which was false from the beginning.

It remains false today, as all the "official" data from China with their many "public media" lockdowns. If your choice of CFR is the "best," then by "official" sites China's CFR is most odd.

Here's the comparison, done for you in the old-fashioned "show you work" way which so many today refuse to do:

China's "official worldometer" CFR as of 13 February 2022,

( 4,636 total deaths / 106,930 total cases ) x 100 = 4.33 % CFR.

China's "official worldometer" mortality rate as of 13 February 2022,

( 4,636 total deaths / 1,439,323,776 Chinese ( x 100 = 0.00032 % mortality rate.

"You wrote to ask: "Is this from the 'cases' or from the entire population?" Entire population and entire deaths. And this is the classic definition for the mortality rate.

Which is the "better" rate as a descriptor for "deadly" for the simple and "official" data for China's 4,636 total deaths in a nation of 1.4 billion?

The "deadly" CFR of 4.33 % of China "dead" or the "deadly" 0.00032 mortality rate, aka "death rate?"

The media has harped on CFR because the calculation is the larger. If it bleeds, it leads, so goes the media adage.

Here are both United States rates calculated for you.

For the US as of today -- a comparison of CFR and mortality rates --

( 919,255 "Johns Hopkins" dead / 77,707,694 "Johns Hopkins" confirmed cases (JHU) x 100 = 1.18 % case fatality rate expressed as a percentage.

( 919,255 "Johns Hopkins" dead / 331,002,651 Americans ) x 100 = 0.278 % mortality rate expressed as a percentage.

Which "better" tells of 0.278 % of the population "dead" from Covid in a nation of 331 million?

This is why CFR appears front and center in all the media as regards the 'pandemic.' It appears "deadlier."

But applying 1.18 % case fatality rate as if it were a measure of the population would yield "dead" in the number, 39,058,312.

Now THAT'S deadly. It is also untrue.

It is as untrue as is the "official" less than five thousand Covid dead in China from the twenty-five month long, lockdown-decorated panic.

There are lots of questions of valid case numbers. I can testify to that since I have a lot of experience with this hysteria.

However CFR tells in theory how many people actually die if you get it. Period. As an engineer that is more meaningful than just using the entire pop, which is infection fatality rate IFR.

That is like jealous Australians trying to normalize Olympic medal count by using their entire pop for comparison to US, which has greater pop. However, to tell how effective they are, we can only logically go by how many athletes actually enter and win, not make it nicer for Aussies by using the whole pop. That’s ridiculous.

One can’t really tell how dangerous a disease is unless comparing it to how many die from actually getting it.

Again, the numbers are a bit screwy and incomplete. So it’s not perfectly scientific and accurate.

But, OTOH, CFR of 1% overall isn’t that terrible, esp. with poor numbers to use. I have no problem seeing that CFR and not being scared.
