NBA star Enes Kanter Freedom says President Joe Biden is not taking human rights seriously and claims the White House has ignored his requests for meetings for fear it would alienate authoritarian regimes around the world.
In a new podcast, released as the Winter Olympics begins in Beijing, the Boston Celtics basketball player calls on athletes to stand up for freedom.
Kanter, born in Switzerland to Turkish parents, has been an outspoken critic of Turkey and China, and last year legally changed his name to Freedom.
Everyone from Wall Street and Hollywood to the White House were all afraid of athletes speaking out and potentially alienating sources of money, he said.
'Unfortunately, you know, I feel like when it comes to the authoritarian regimes, sometimes they're saying remain silent ... like Turkey,' he told the One Decision podcast, released on the even of the Winter Olympics opening ceremony.
The six-foot-ten-inch star, whose Turkish passport was revoked in 2017, went on to say that he had been trying to have a meeting with Biden to discuss human rights.

He’s so good that his own country, Turkey canceled his citizenship, and he can’t travel with the team to Europe, because he might be assasinated. Whose side are you on? I’m fine giving him U.S. citizenship. Even if he refuses to kowtow to the Chinese.
Perceptive people would realize that I was in reality criticizing islam and it’s long held beliefs that slavery is still condoned in 2022. And Enes is not speaking up about modern day slavery. So try again to comprehend my original post.
