I am so thankful for the wife that God gave me.
When we met (sept 77, she was 20, I was 23) we were living like and looking like the world: tight and fancy, following the fashion trends of that time when out on the town. Yet we had a fear of God that kept us from crossing certain behavior lines. We didn’t do drugs or smoke anything. We were still virgins (right up to wedding night, 8-12-78).
But God called us to holiness in 82, and being born again (Acts 2:38,39), we saw that modesty is God’s way.
My wife is a genetic freak of sorts. In two weeks she’ll be 65, and still has the same 5’6 1/2”, 125# frame and figure. She doesn’t dye her hair (maybe 10% gray now).
She quit makeup in 83. And while it was a changed look, she really didn’t wear that much: one color of skin tone, some mascara, and lipstick. She said that she only started wearing it when she was 16, and that’s because all her friends were. I love her natural face. It’s pure from artificial ingredients.
I admit that I liked seeing her marvelous curves in tight clothing while we were dating. But when we were married, I noticed how men would stare at her, and wasn’t thrilled about it. When she chose to wear dresses (or long skirts) and stop wearing slacks, jeans, and shorts, I was agreeable with her decision.
She has had men approach her, saying things like “thank you for being modest in your appearance”, or “I wish my wife would dress like you”.
Its sad that young women think that they have to dress like whores in order to fit in with society.
A few years younger tgan you two, but much the same story.
Wife may not have the figure of her youth but I see the years and decades of being a wife and mom and grandma and I see the beauty of her sacrifice.
No make up other than lipstick on occasion and owns no slacks or trousers.
Im the one like your wife, same weight and pants size as when I was a young man, grey and balding a bit and broken down from a harsh life but fit and vigorous so I can care for the missus.
