Lovie, Josh McCown and Brian Flores. Not one of them is good enough to be a head coach in the NFL. Texans should have gone b//s out starting in December to get Dennis Allen away from the Saints. Now the Texans will be lucky to break .500

He got Rex Grossman to a Super Bowl. OK they lost. But Rex Grossman, to a Super Bowl. That’s not a loser coach.

Nah it is his skin color. Can't be anything but. America no longer hires the best and brightest. Job knowledge, aptitude, attitude. All hiring is now based on two factors: Skin color and sexual orientation. One is either the correct color or one isn't. One either has the correct sexual orientation, or one doesn't. Nothing else matters.
Mr. Flores will sue again and again and again. Eventually someone will be court ordered to hire him. Roger Goodell will wonder with his mouth full, will wonder, "How many more will I have to fellitate"? I knew I was going to be a whore when I was hired. But I thought it would be for the Owners and women. Not for every no talent or brans idiot who think that they are members of MENSA.

Methinks the NFL office went to the Texans and told them to “Take One for the team”.

Agree. As a packers fan, the last time the bears were a serious threat was under Lovie Smith.

ReTire, ReTread, ReHire = BlowOut. Texans go 8-8.

Don’t forget his stellar 17-39 record at Illinois. James Franklin is black - I wish someone in the nfl would give him a HC job.

Geez, even Ron Zook did better than that at Illinois.

I would rather see someone who had never been a head coach before getting hired versus a retread
Bill Belichick is a retread (Cleveland). Jon Gruden was a retread with Tampa. Dick Vermeil was a retread from the Eagles. Chuck Knox as a retread took the Bills to four straight Super Bowls. George Allen had good success with the Redskins for awhile after his time with the Rams. As did Don Coryell with the Chargers.
On the other hand, Mike Ditka and Jeff Fisher were disasters, Bill Parcells under-performed, Chuck Knox did not do well in his third go-around, and Joe Gibbs failed as a retread with his own team.
I think retreads depend on the situation and personality of both the team and the coach. The one that I see rarely working out these days is college coaches going to he NFL. John Robinson did okay with the Rams, but the Steve Spurrier types tend to flame out spectacularly. Different dynamic.

Smith was the DC for the Rams when they lost to the Patriots in Brady's first Super Bowl. Smith had improved the defense quite a bit, and seemed to be a pretty smart guy.
It looks like he has become one of those journeyman coaches that are good, but never quite got over the hump- sort of what Andy Reid was for many years, until Mahomes came along.
I think the Texans have bigger problems than he can solve (mostly in the front office), but I'm glad he's getting another shot.

I just like to see new coaches get a chance, obviously there is no set rule that says it’s one way or the other

I just like to see new coaches get a chance,
Well, as a Rams fan I am happy we gave Sean McVay a chance. Since the NFL is a copycat league, several of his own hires are getting promotions with other teams, including Zach Taylor, coaching the Bengals.

I’m generally a college football fan, specifically a UF Gator Fan, we recently went thru a coaching change, we’ve gone thru a number of coaching changes in the last 10 years.
Whenever we fire a coach, the inevitable debate begins on the replacement. The majority of fans always want a coach with experience and are totally against hiring a first time head coach.
This time I pointed out, Georgia, Clemson, Ohio State, and Oklahoma who have all consistently been in college football playoffs and all of them have first time head coaches.
My point is as I said earlier, there is no set rule on hiring head coaches, why eliminate a potentially great choice simply because they have never been a head coach before, consider everyone.

“Yes, they met their quota.”
Their quota is 70% since that is their share of the players. Their minimum quota is their share of the population. It is acceptable to be greater which is why 70% is acceptable.
White males share is maxed out at their share of the population. It is acceptable to be less. That is why it is acceptable for 90% of elementary teachers to be female but it is not acceptable for 90% of engineers to be men.

Are you sure that’s not just a good suntan?

So I believe now at least 12% of Head Coaches are black, we’re done!
We are, they aren’t. Blacks want to displace all whites from all positions in the NFL. Period.
When a white male owns a business, it should represent the demographics (at a minimum). Anything less risks lawsuits and severe reprecussions. We are a nation divided.
