The House select committee scrutinizing the Jan. 6 assault on the Capitol is borrowing techniques from federal prosecutions, employing aggressive tactics typically used against mobsters and terrorists as it seeks to break through stonewalling from former President Donald Trump and his allies and develop evidence that could prompt a criminal case.
In what its members see as the best opportunity to hold Trump and his team accountable, the committee — which has no authority to pursue criminal charges — is using what powers it has in expansive ways in hopes of pressuring Attorney General Merrick Garland to use the Justice Department to investigate and prosecute them.
The panel’s investigation is being run by a former U.S. attorney, and the top investigator brought in to focus on Trump’s inner circle is also a former U.S. attorney. The panel has hired more than a dozen other former federal prosecutors.
Faced with at least 16 Trump allies who have signaled that they will not fully cooperate with the committee, investigators have taken a page out of organized crime prosecutions and quietly turned at least six lower-level Trump staff members into witnesses who have provided information about their bosses’ activities.
The committee is also considering granting immunity to key members of Trump’s inner circle who have invoked their Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination as a way of pressuring them to testify.

Unbelievable this is going on. Last week I posted a thread about Brandon Straka who is the founder of the “Walk away” movement that encourages people to walk away from the Democratic party.
He was there Jan. 6th and all he did was videotape the protest. He wasn’t in the Capital building, he didn’t attack anyone, and still Nancy sent her FBI SA Storm detachment to arrest Straka at his house, charge him with multiple felonies where eventually he was convicted of a class B misdemeanor of disorderly conduct and the Judge, a Trump appointee - Trump scammed again - threw the book at him.
He got 3 months home arrest, 3 YEARS probation, 30 hours community service, the maximum $5000 fine and an additional $500 for the damage done to the Capitol building because apparently video taping somehow defies the laws of physics and damages buildings. They also if you can believe it, put him on the terrorism watch list FOR A MISDEMEANOR!!!!

Congress can’t grant immunity from charges because they are part of the legislative branch. The Department of Justice as part of the judicial branch can prosecute and grant immunity from charges.
We are supposed to keep on voting . . . as if it matters.
This is further proof that our Government is a greater danger to our freedom than Russia, China, or any other country.

Here is a US citizen who did literally NOTHING and he’s treated like we are living in North Korea. Where the hell are the mass protests? This is our government blatantly violating this guys civil rights, constitutional rights, and everybody is OK with this??? They also by the way shut down all his financial accounts. This is CLEARLY retribution by the Democrap party solely because Straka does not support them.
