Seen it....been a while however
Still one of the funniest film performances of all time. In fact, the entire cast was terrific, including Kenneth Mars as playwright Franz Liebkind and Christopher Hewett (Mr Belvedere) as the cross-dressing director Roger De Bris.
We should all be thankful Mel Brooks was in his prime 50-60 years ago. Today, if he pitched something like “The Producers,” or “Blazing Saddles,” he’d be permanently canceled in Hollywood.
And Richard Pryor was one of the main writers for Blazing Saddles, they might have cancelled him too.
In before all the “just a coincidence’ nay sayers.
This was a direct afront to Christ...when I read the story i felt a sharpness in my spirit.
Ii was remembering the story of Herod being lauded and boastful so an angel of the Lord smote him because he gave not God the glory.
I believe he was merciful with the comediene; Christ seemed to treat women better than the guys in ancient Israel anyway. But given the stories of those times, the men had it coming when Christ would admonish them, the women...maybe not so much admonishment but rather mercy and a gentle push to “go and sin no more!
Hallelujah to that! Great line yourself, you must have been divinely inspired. :-)
My cousin is max-vaxxed and has fallen down a few times recently, once in the street.

Pryor was also the first choice to play Bart, but his drug problems made him “uninsurable,” according to the studio. Of course that changed when Pryor became a major box office star. Not the drug problems—just the studio’s willingness to tolerate them, because Pryor made a lot of money for them and himself. Unfortunately, he put most of those paychecks up his nose.
