Technocrats Demand Meat Tax To Fight Climate Change
Nation And State ^ | 2-7-2022 | Paul Joseph Watson via Summit News

A group of environmental economists in Germany is demanding that huge taxes be imposed on meat products to fight climate change, with calls for beef to be 56 per cent more expensive.

Asserting that livestock is responsible for 13 per cent of greenhouse gas emissions, researchers from TU Berlin’s Chair of Sustainable Use of Natural Resources are demanding limitations on meat consumption in order to “attain greenhouse gas neutrality.”

“Livestock farming is a huge contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, soil and water pollution, and precious forests are being cleared for pastures and food crops,” said the leader of the group, Professor Linus Mattauch.

“Evidence suggests the environmental impacts are so large that the world can’t meet climate goals and keep vital ecosystems intact without reducing the consumption of meat – at least in Western high-income countries,” he added.

Mattauch wants governments to “start thinking about also taxing meat to reduce its consumption,” asserting that this is the “most efficient path to preventing further strain on our planet.”

“According to the group’s model calculations, the direct cost of livestock farming in relation to climate change is as high as $9.21 per kilogram of beef,” reports ReMix News.

“Applying this cost to the price of beef could result in beef products being as much as 56 percent more expensive. Similarly, poultry would cost 25 percent more, and lamb and pork would rise by 19 percent.”

Such taxes will of course primarily impact the poor, who in many western countries are already suffering due to rampant food inflation

No doubt the solution to that will be amplifying efforts to encourage everyone to start eating bugs as an alternative and “sustainable” source of protein.

As we previously highlighted, the World Economic Forum published two articles on its website which explored how people could be conditioned to get used to the idea of eating weeds, bugs and drinking sewage water in order to reduce CO2 emissions.

In January last year, the EU officially approved the sale of worms as food to be consumed by humans.

Last month, Vanderbilt University Professor Amanda Little argued that everyone in the world needs to start dining on insects and that the EU’s approval of them conferred a form of “dignity” to their consumption.

One group of people who won’t be eating bugs is technocrat globalists.

Despite insisting that everyone else reduce their living standards and ration their meat eating to save the planet, during last year’s Cop 26 summit, attendees enjoyed a menu full of animal-based dishes that were at least double the carbon footprint of the average UK meal.

Why are we pretending to fight the Current Warm Period? It’s not as warm as the past few warm periods like the Medieval Warm Period, the Roman Warm Period, nor the Minoan Warm Period. Besides we can’t stop it anyway and it’s probably got 2 to 4 centuries left before we enter another centuries long cooling period.

“Why are we pretending to fight the Current Warm Period? “

If you’re a Mayfly and your whole life is one day, then you can’t conceive of such a long cycle. What’s going on at noon is easily projected to cause the death of all Mayflies.

Red meat is an excellent source of zinc.

Now why would Deep States the world over be doing their damndest to ensure their populations become zinc deficient...? 🤔

The Germans are at it again. Big taxes on food. Sieg Heil.

“Precious forests are being cleared for pastures and food crops”. Umm perhaps the author failed to read the story about 2000 hectares of 1000 year old forest being cleared to put up wind turbines in Germany.

If the Elites want to start eating bugs and worms, let them. Don’t expect me to though.

By the way does this go for dog and cat food? We have to assume it does since they’re carnivores.

Hmmmmm? Seems to me that sending Stacy, Whoopski, and Hillary to a satellite would result in less greenhouse gas than blaming livestock???

Greenhouse Gases is a preeminent scam invented to support hysterical claims of global warming and climate change.

About as valid as unicorns farting skittles.

The first thing that someone needs to answer is: What exactly is the ideal average temperature of the planet supposed to be?

Until we know that, the how can we tell if we are warming or cooling?

Or how do we know what the end goal is supposed to be, IOW, which direction do we want to go in? Or do we want to stay the same?

Not to mention that suppose CO2 emissions do cause warming, then would it not make sense for the planet to be warmer so less fossil fuels are used for heating, thereby reducing warming?

And of course, increasing taxes is always the answer to every “crisis” the left invents and inflicts on us.

For my part, give me warming.

The equator and the poles will not see much difference, but the mid latitudes will then have lower heating costs and longer growing seasons, resulting in an increased food supply.

I see no down side to that.

Actually, some gases are greenhouse gases. They are very good at absorbing infrared radiation from the sun.

CO2 is only the third strongest greenhouse gas in the atmosphere but the second most abundant.

The actual second strongest but less abundant is methane, which the majority of it is produced by termites.

Want to guess the strongest and most abundant by far?

Water vapor.

Good luck controlling that.

The left has no rational, logical fact based argument to convince people to alter their habits to impact climate (as if they could - the argument or the climate). Instead their inner tyrant takes over and figures that taxing whatever they view as a threat to the perfect temperature of the planet is the way to go.

"...precious forests are being cleared for pastures and food crops."

BS.

"...precious forests are being cleared for idiotic, worthless, inefficient pastures and food crops solar farm and windmills."

Fixed it.

Germany should’ve been wiped off the map after WW2 and the land divided up amongst its neighbors forever. Between the Kaiser and his influencers, Hitler and Merkel, Germany has seriously wounded Western civilization, perhaps mortally

I agree with much of what you said, Metmom.

To back it up, I assert that our ideal temperatures are what we've seen during the warm periods, at least from a historical perspective. In other words, we should be happy to be in the Current Warm Period. That's because during the warm periods of the past few thousand years, life is good. Crop yields are higher, rain patterns are easier to predict and aren't as harsh, and diseases are down. Even with covid, and even if all "covid deaths" truly are from covid, that's still a drop in the bucket compared to the Bubonic Plague killing 1/3 to 1/2 of Europe and Asia during the Little Ice Age, and that's just one of the big diseases.

Most of the atrocities in history that we're supposed to forever aggrieve over (according to the worldly left) were things done by different races when everybody was desperate during the Little Ice Age (roughly AD 1300 to mid 1800's). Even Anglos were a displaced people because the Huns displaced the Goths, forcing the Goths to move and displace the Anglos who were in modern day Germany and nearby areas, because life during the cooling period in the Dark Age (roughly AD 300 to 900) sucked and the Huns could no longer live in their land northeast of there. Want to know why blacks in sub-Shaharan Africa captured other blacks and sold them in slavery in all directions (not just across the Atlantic, but to the middle East and far east as well) during the 1600's and 1700's? Because life during the Little Ice sucked and crop yields were way down. Basically blacks would take over farm land from other black tribes/kingdoms because they had years, sometimes decades of droughts making everybody desperate for more crop land to squeeze out of the land what they could to survive. What do you do with the people who used to live in the land you just took over? Sell them off as exports because you can't sell crops like you did during the Medieval Warm Period: you had a severe shortage of crops and instead had a surplus of people you didn't want to share the crops with.

Give me life in any of the warm periods any day over life during the cool periods.
