Americans ditched high-tax Democrat-run states for low-tax or no-tax havens mostly governed by Republicans during pandemic: Populations shrink in NY, NJ, California, Illinois and spike in Texas, Florida, Carolinas and Big Sky country

The great migration during the pandemic has seen Americans flee high-tax Democrat-run states and flock to Republican-led low-tax or no-income-tax states, a study by The Tax Foundation found.

'People move to states with low-income tax for a multitude of reasons, sometimes it's the most direct and obvious reason that it reduces their own tax liability,' the vice president of state projects at the Tax Foundation, Jared Walczak, told Yahoo. *** Low or no-personal-income states such as Utah, Montana, Arizona, South Carolina, Delaware, Texas, Nevada, Florida, and North Carolina all saw population gains of 1 percent or more.

Meanwhile, District of Columbia and New York - the only two to raise personal income taxes in 2021 - shrunk significantly in population.

After the pandemic hit, Americans have flocked to no-tax or low-income-tax states, a study by The Tax Foundation found. *** New York, where income taxes were raised in 2021, lost 1.8percent of its population from July 2020 to July 2021, while DC also saw a decline of 2.8percent in population during the same period

Of the 50 US states, 42 and DC have individual income taxes. In 41 of those states, income from wages and salaries are considered taxes.

The vice president of state projects at the Tax Foundation, Jared Walczak, warned that those ditching high-tax states are not just retirees but also young people who have flexibility to work from anywhere

Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and Wyoming do not have a state income tax. ***

People are fleeing Democrat states and moving to Republican ones. That is a sign of sanity. Unfortunately, here in Texas, the blue staters are often taking their politics with them which is evidence of insanity.

"Americans flee high-tax Democrat-run states"

Should read Democrat run hi-tax, hi-crime states.

Allen West is the only one addressing this head on.

Welcome to the party. Once in a while, one will drive through here( coastal Oregon) with a sign saying “Don’t worry; we’re not staying.”

No. Redistricting occurs once every 10 years based on the actual census, not on estimates. The census was taken as of April 1, 2020 and House seats were allocated based on this number. This won’t occur again until April 1, 2030.

Only a observation on the 2030 Census and it’s likely ‘change’ on society...IF fleeing continues (out of Ill, NY and Cal)...each of the states might be loosing three districts. I don’t see this ‘ditching’ lessening.

NYS has lost almost half its House seats over the last 60 years. We should have lost mire than 1 this time around.

But, no worries.

Deep State is sending lots of illegals our way.

Got to hand it to the left.. they are far more strategic thinkers than we’ll ever be. We celebrate a single court victory or election, while Kali is seeding other states with liberal voters. That’s what killed Oregon, Washington, Colorado, New Mexico and Nevada. The infestation is nearly complete in Arizona and Idaho, Montana and Texas are on their near-term sights. Ditto for New Yorkers coming to North Carolina and Florida.

Yep… a large portion of the Kali arrivals are attaching to the host in And around Austin. Recently read an article that Kali arrivals like Austin because its “progressive” ways remind them of life back home without the high taxes. These aren’t conservatives escaping tyranny. They’re the advance units of a larger invasion.

I fled deep blue Ct to SC in 2013. The move worked out better than I hoped. Living expenses dropped by a third. Also SC offers generous tax deductions to retirees. At the county/city level, we are exempt from school taxes. I live in Jasper county, with a small commercial base, and pay $3000 a year in property taxes down from $8500 in Ct. Next door in Beaufort county, supported by tourism on Hilton Head, property taxes are about $800. My timing was good. Housing has appreciated 100% in the 8 years I have been here.

SC is gun friendly. I bought my first gun as soon as I got a SC driver’s license. Shortly there after that I took a concealed carry course and 28 days later, I received my card. Joined a private gun club.

Living in a retirement community, I run into newly arrived refuges from blue states. I’m happy to report that everyone I talked to do not plan to vote for liberals. I always encourage them not to vote in local elections and allow the natives to run things. They’re doing a pretty good job making a nice place to live. After all, we are just visitors passing through.

Yep, they come to Florida or North Carolina bragging about how schools in NYC were so much better and their state benefit programs were cool.

It never changes. A soviet will always be a Soviet sucker.

And those same useful idiots will vote for criminal democrats who will again, destroy those red states. Stop treating the root cause of the chaos in this world (i.e. the democrat taliban party voter) nicely since they are directly responsible for the destruction being caused by government.
