NEW YORK (AP) — Looking out at a sea of faces at a Texas fairground, most of them white, former President Donald Trump seethed about his legal troubles and blamed them on malicious prosecutors.
“These prosecutors are vicious, horrible people. They’re racists and they’re very sick, they’re mentally sick,” Trump said, before warning his audience: “In reality. They’re not after me, they’re after you.”
He repeated his charge of racism, but skipped over an obvious detail: Those prosecutors are Black.
His diatribe left the clear impression that Trump, who rode the politics of white grievance into the White House, thinks he can’t possibly be treated fairly by Black officials.
The comments carry the echoes of racist messages that have proliferated in recent years –- that Black people and other minorities are taking power, and that they will exact revenge on white people, or at the very least treat white people as they have been treated.
That’s among the fears stoking the white supremacy movement, the so-called “white replacement theory” that people of color will supplant whites in the country’s power dynamics and social structure.
Michael Steele, who more than a decade ago was the first African American to chair the Republican National Committee, said Trump was being Trump.
“If he can race bait it, he will. These prosecutors, these Black people are coming after me — the white man,” Steele said.

“Trump, who rode the politics of white grievance into the White House,”
AP?
Hello out there.
Anyone believing these bottom of the barrel journalism majors any more?
It’s amazing what they can read into a Trump statement.
Trump’s one superpower is uncovering the corporatist, race baiting grifters in the Republican party.
The Associated press doesn’t get around much places like Chicago New York St Louis life in the bubble is always good.
So blacks are immune from being a racist. Got it.
They used the word “trope.” We are doomed. The AP is a sad shadow of itself.
the percentage of blacks is about the same in this country for over 100 years.
No one is replacing whites, and redefining hispanics as non-white as they were considered through all of US history until recently doesn’t stoke fear in us.
We DO NOT WANT anyone to be treated differently because of their race, INCLUDING whites! affirmative action IS RACISM.
” Looking out at a sea of faces at a Texas fairground...”
When has Biden EVER looked out at a sea of faces?
I remember driving my girl friends, friend to WashDC back in the late 80s. She got a cheap apartment is a horrible section of DC.
Bottom line check on racism. Go to most rural and suburban neighborhoods and Blacks walk freely with courtesy in these areas.
Go to the non tourist and non NW DC area and you will be accosted, slurred and attacked if you are white. I challenge any elitist Dems to do this. You might come out alive.
“but skipped over an obvious detail: Those prosecutors are Black”
Sorta what the press generally does to conservative blacks.
Trump’s a racist because pointing out racism is racist.
Fighting racism is racist!
Wish that were true. It wasn’t.
An absolutely ridiculous screed.
The Left’s derangement is apparently endless.
Wow. Trump is now a racist after receiving awards for years for not being racist. The only correlations I can find was back then he was a democrat, so either his behavior was applauded because of party, or they really are hypocrites. The next issue I have is the line above. Anybody notice what happened to the farmers in South Africa? Frankly, I am to old and tired to care about the color of someone skin, but I grow weary of the communists/socialists race baiting and then blaming Trump. Besides, it’s always about money, or as they say reparations. It won’t end well.
I’m sure blacks can be just as racist as whites.
ALL the racists that I am aware of are BLACK. Why is that?
IS there a ‘media member” alive who actually can acknowledge the damage Soros has done to this country??
