Senate Democrats in Washington state have once again passed a bill that creates a pathway to early release for a variety of incarcerated people serving long sentences or even life without parole, including those sentenced for aggravated murder and murder in the first degree.
The bill doubles the membership of the Clemency and Pardons Board, and requires certain representation on the board to ensure equity. The board would consider petitions for early release for incarcerated people who have served 15, 20, or 25 years of their sentence, depending on the crime they’re serving time for.
“This bill is about understanding the reality that people change,” said bill sponsor and long-time King County Prosecuting Attorney Manka Dhingra during floor debate Wednesday.
“Those of us who work in the criminal justice system know that we normally see people at their worst moment, but we also know that people are more than their worst day,” she added.
Dhingra’s office also noted the proposal had been a years-long effort that started with former Sen. Jeannie Darneille as lead sponsor, which Dhingra took over three years ago. They have been taking input to perfect the policy, and it has finally gotten to the point where a critical mass of stakeholders think it’s ready, according to Dhingra’s staff, who also noted they have the support of the NAACP and the Washington Association of Prosecuting Attorneys.

Require members of the Clemency and Pardons Board who vote in favor of a release to personally complete the sentence of the individual they released if said individual is found guilty of committing another felony.
In other words, live in the real world and take responsibility.
Their crime rate shows that people don’t change as fast as they think.
What the world needs now. Poor misunderstood murderers getting a second chance. Or a third. Whatever.

Problem here is that criminals can get better or worse. You can’t pick a day and call it your worst day from your past and not figure that they can have worse ones in the future.
And tying a representation of the board to determine their release is an ineffectual unneeded effort to consider release of criminals. If they are not releasable with the current board structure of people hired to do that job, then it isn’t the system that is failing, it is the people on the board. So hiring more people to do the same job because of what the politicians say is a failure of the people, is their fault for hiring them, not the system.
And the opinion of the politicians to determine the current crop of people could be just as ineffective as the people in the positions are. And because they are throwing in diversity and not factual crime related reasons, means, also, they are questioning the honesty of the board members they employed. So they are calling them racist and dishonest. In the opinion of the politicians, are the right people in prison? Or should it be the future victims of the crimes the released can accomplish because they are returned to the population based upon race and not because of their ability to reintegrate.

Make Seattle a Sanctuary City for murderers. As long as they stay there, they are free to roam. That way murderers from all over the US can go and live there, and murder others there, but they can never leave. And felons, all felons in the US can have sanctuary in Seattle!! Just couple it to strong additional restrictions on RKBA for non-criminals, and it should be good to go for progressives. After all, what good is gun control if there aren’t murderers walking around, and what good is a society filled murderers if the rest of the public isn’t disarmed and defenseless?
These Democrats seem to want a rebellion to start and if it does they would be found hiding in their basements until it’s over and then come out to build back better.

I still believe the Deep State, most big government organizations, and the DC Swamp, both Democrats and Republicans, were opposed to Trump and helped the Democrats cheat their way into the White House.
