It sure doesn’t make Flores look like a liar when there are nine head coach openings this season and the new hires have all been white as Wonder Bread.

Part of this is in regard to the “Rooney Rule”, a stupid idea that said all NFL teams must interview at least one minority candidate for every head coaching vacancy. While it made some temporary progress, this winter’s results show how easy it is to fulfill the rule but still not promote diversity.

The three teams left unfilled are the Dolphins (which fired Flores), Texans (which fired David Culley, an African-American whom they are trying to replace with a white guy who has never coached beyond high school - talk about bad optics) and the Saints.

but still not promote diversity.

That is not a criteria. Having a winning coach is.

Flores didn’t get it done. Its not about race.

You should get yourself a couple billion dollars, buy a team, and hire all blacks.
Problem solved…

I'm not familiar with the situation with Flores in Miami. Is it true that he started the season with seven losses and finished with eight wins, or something like that? I think I'd keep him...

The elephant in the room, IMO, is Eric Bienemy, the OC for the Chiefs. This is JMO but I believe he has the job he wants, and just might be waiting for Andy Reid to retire... sometime within say the next 3-5 years.

Bienemy would rock as a head coach. I recall when he played for Colorado back when they were still in the Big XII. (Or was it the end times for the Big VIII; I don't think Bienemy is quite that old.)

The bad part for him will be the fanfare and celebration about being a new BLACK head coach, when really what one might assume he would want (I don't personally know the guy) is to be just regular Head Coach. The extra pressure to not only succeed as Head Coach but also BLACK Head Coach would seem to be unhelpful.

One thing that hasn't helped certain black coaches is a tendency to embrace certain political agendas that have nothing to do with winning football games, or with team unity... Pittsburgh and Chicago have seen this happen and probably others too.

Plus Goodell is a diphsit. This will never get straightened out so long as he's in charge.

“how easy it is to fulfill the rule but still not promote diversity.”

You can hire the best, or hire for diversity. Just not enough owners willing to lose games to achieve diversity - yet! Me? I’d love to see all the “crackers” like Goodell fired and rename it the All Black Football League. But I largely stopped watching when the Colts left Baltimore.
