Lockdowns had “little to no effect” on saving lives during the pandemic — and “should be rejected out of hand as a pandemic policy,” according to economists in a new meta-analysis of dozens of studies.
A group led by the head of Johns Hopkins Institute for Applied Economics analyzed studies from the first surge of the pandemic to investigate widely pushed claims that stringent restrictions would limit deaths.
Instead, the meta-analysis concluded that lockdowns across the US and Europe had only “reduced COVID-19 mortality by 0.2% on average.”
Worse, some of the studies even suggested that limiting gatherings in safe outdoor spots may have been “counterproductive and increased” the death rate, the authors noted.
“While this meta-analysis concludes that lockdowns have had little to no public health effects, they have imposed enormous economic and social costs where they have been adopted,” the professors wrote in the journal Studies in Applied Economics.

I think the explanation for this is that Seniors and those with immunocompromised systems will lock down themselves without being told. And, locking down young healthy people changes nothing.
But the second and third order effects have been devastating as have all the mask mandates.
Have been saying since the beginning...You don't quarantine well people. We would have had herd immunity very early on...and Covid would have been nailed.
Just let us have the meds that our drs. know work and leave us alone. How is it that fauci gets to give us 1 protocol and then strips drs of their licenses if they dare give out a pill they think works but fauci does not allow? Who is fauci to not allow a med that has worked, and is cheap? Why are hospitals and drs so afraid of him? HE GIVES OUT THE MONEY. Congress gets ivermectin and so does the NFL but I cannot get it. Many have gone to court to receive it and some have dies because the court says no. As my mother used to say, BASTARDS.
...masks mandates are cruel....especially for children...politicians know this, but refuse to end these useless edicts because it is not and never has been about “the science” - it is all about political power and control over the masses....look at what is happening in The Peoples Democratic Republic of Northern Virginia where some 7 school districts are defying Governor Youngkin’s exec. order about no mask mandates in schools....
no effect - how about all of that Covidcide in the nursing homes?

Like children and young adults committing suicide. I don't have the numbers, but I suspect suicides in these age groups vastly outnumber death from Covid. Tucker Carlson interviewed a dad that lost his 12 year old son.
The Johns Hopkins study on lockdowns has serious flaws. For example, it is a “meta analysis” or study of studies. The authors found more than a thousand studies about lockdowns and excluded all but 34, for various reasons. They ignore the fact that because lockdowns were a response to serious rapid Covid outbreaks, those areas with lockdown policies have more Covid, but that doesn’t mean the lockdowns didn’t prevent more serious or more rapid outbreaks. A study of medical practices by economists is no more valid than a study of the economy done by doctors.
