U.S. special operations forces conducted a large-scale counterterrorism raid in northwestern Syria overnight Thursday, in what the Pentagon said was a “successful mission.” Residents and activists reported multiple deaths — including civilians — from the attack.
Residents and activists in the area described witnessing a large ground assault, with U.S. forces using loudspeakers asking women and children to leave the area. They described the raid as the biggest operation since the October 2019 killing of Islamic State group leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
There was at least one major explosion. A U.S. official said that one of the helicopters in the raid suffered a mechanical problem and had to be blown up on the ground. The U.S. official spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss details of the military operation.

Great.
sounds like a complete failure based on the blurb.
Did we send our best transgender troops?
Why?
Probably going after some leader in al Queda or ISIS. To disrupt them after the big prison break attempt in Eastern Syria.
Sounds like they bagged who they ere gunning for. No doubt they scooped up some fresh Intel sources while there.
It is good to keep them afraid.
Operation Corn-Pop.
Hope it wasn’t a disguised continuation of the false flag operations against the Syrian government.
WTH was that???
What purpose? What result?
Like hell it was.
Ayman Zawahiri....remember hom?
This government is trying to rev up wars everywhere. Are they doing it for our country’s security or is it an attempt to give The Biden WH something positive to talk about?
Why do we always have to blow up a vehicle like a helicopter in every raid?
I can’t remember all these Alibaba names, but I looked him up and he is a BAD actor.
His info ended with his being head of Al Queda in Egypt.
I’ll have to look further to find out what he is doing in Syria.
Thanks.
Especially, after they left all those helicopters and billions in military hardware for the Taliban.
Nothing tells a terrorist to grab some women and children for a sheild like an announcement telling women and children to leave.
It could be a function of these helicopters being heavily modified to give them (some) level of electromagnetic and acoustic stealth. I say some because it is really difficult to give a helicopter a real measure of EM stealth, and as for acoustic silencing that is also something where, at best, you’d just minimize it a bit. Good enough to let a specops team get closer to target, but nothing that would work against a modern adversary.
Anyway - those changes may make the helicopters more difficult to handle, and thus prone to mishaps. Maybe insufficient lift in certain conditions that would not necessarily be an issue for more conventional Blackhawks.
Considering this was (most likely) a JSOC operation, it was the 160th SOAR that was flying these helicopters - and those guys are the best helicopter pilots in the world. No one as good as the Nightstalkers. Which means that it was not an issue of pilot error, nor was it an issue of maintenance. The people who fly in Delta and Devgru take good care of their gear. And after the 1980 Operation Eagle Claw debacle, such missions have a very high level of preparation in terms of ingress and egress.
Thus, it was most likely an issue caused by how heavily modified the helicopters are. Those small EM and acoustic stealth gains are important, but they also come with handling costs.
I am glad the mission was a success.
Why are we in Syria. Get out.
Remember when Trump was about to order a military strike in one of those countries and Pelosi and other top-rank Democrats came out of the meeting all smiles?
I believe they were planning on using that to try to impeach him- and he spotted the ‘set-up’ and changed the plan.
What the F is Biden doing killing civilians in Syria?
He is so stupid he could actually start WW3.
