Congressman Ben Cline (VA-06) was joined by Representatives Morgan Griffith (VA-09), Bob Good (VA-05), Rob Wittman (VA-01), Jeff Duncan (SC-03), Rodney Davis (IL-13), and Chip Roy (TX-21) in introducing H.R. 6534, the Stop Arduous Vaccine Enforcement (SAVE) Act, which would prohibit organ transplant centers from denying an individual from receiving or donating an organ solely based on whether he or she is vaccinated against COVID-19.
This legislation comes in response to several reports from across the United States of individuals being removed from the organ transplant list or moved to “inactive” status as a result of being unvaccinated.
“It is unimaginable that organ transplant centers would deny American citizens life-saving medical procedures solely for being unvaccinated against COVID-19. The SAVE Act ensures that no one is denied an organ transplant or donation based on their vaccination status,” Congressman Cline said. “Getting vaccinated is a personal choice and should not be mandated. This legislation is not anti-vaccine, it’s about making sure individuals get the treatment they need.”
“The need for the SAVE Act shows that in the US patients have no right to the medical care they need or desire but only a privilege to receive what the authorities will allow,” Dr. Jane Orient, Executive Director of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, said.
Would it apply to the other 29 flavors of gender?
Should be Life In Prison for anyone instrumental in Organ Denial for "Vaccine" Status.
There is NOTHING as bold as a Republican who has zero chance of getting his bill passed and signed. But let them have majorities in both houses AND a President... they are nowhere to be seen.
Pretty sad that someone has to propose legislation, when one would hope that moral obligation to “Do no harm!” might be the word of the day. Some corporate heads need to held to account. But they won’t be.
yup...
Right up there with blazing rhetoric delivered in an empty chamber for the Congressional record. Tight zoom on the speaker...sound bite for the suckers.
That’s another good one. Absolutely.
We know damned well if they know your are not vaccinated, they will find another "reason" to deny you a transplant.
Transplant centers have always placed restrictions on who can be transplanted.
Every center makes its own rules. Many will not take smokers. Most have standards on weight, as measured by BMI. Some will require a BMI of under 35, others under 40. Stricter centers, under 30.
“Compliance” is high in evaluating transplant candidates. Folks with kidney failure who don’t make their regular dialysis treatments, or miss doctor’s appointments, or who don’t take their prescribed medications, or who have out-of-whack labs (often due to not following one’s renal diet) may be rejected for a kidney transplant.
Centers evaluate your overall health to determine fitness for surgery. Centers will typically exclude you if you’ve had cancer in the last five years.
Transplanted organs require the life-long use of immunosuppressant drugs. This means the transplant recipient is more vulnerable to illnesses. A center whose senior doctors believe in the efficacy of the vaxx will probably not want to transplant to someone unvaxxed.
In part, transplant centers are rated on their “success,” which includes 1-yr, and 5-yr survival numbers. They do what they can to boost both transplant and patient survival.
You explained it better than I could.
Congratulations as you come up to one-year post-transplant. It’ll be 6 years for me at the end of August. I “borrowed” a kidney from my sainted brother.
Don’t tell him, but I’m not giving it back. ;-)
Great point.
This is a childish “bill”. Utter grandstanding over something they saw on Facebook or whatever.
I mean, who know more about successful organ transplantation that government legislators?
What was their position on the patient taking the required flu, pneumonia and hepatitis vaccines?
Dumdums.
And this ONE law would NEVER be used for something untoward or unforseen, you know, down the road. Pfftttt.
🙂
I’m not so sure about Ben Cline yet. This is the first thing I have heard he has done. I’m still waiting for a response from him when I called his office last week to express my views about staying out of Ukraine. Crickets so far. He took Bob Goodlatte’s seat. Another “nice” guy who wouldn’t throw an elbow. I can’t tolerate squishy people, especially my representative in the Congress! We will see how he does, but I’m not impressed.
If you have an ‘outie’, you’re a guy. If you have an ‘innie’, you’re a gal. End of discussion, although it shouldn’t make a difference, anyway. If I needed an organ transplant that would save my life, I don’t care if it came from an 18-year-old, triple-vaxxed Hooters waitress. If it’s a match, change my oil and rotate my tires while you’re at it, doc.
