I hope that they neglected to budget 3-4 times more for camera replacements than the initial cost of installation...because in about 3/4 of the country, they will be regularly used for target practice.
This should be a short-lived experiment in what people will tolerate...and I look forward to an American version of the Gatso destruction websites from the UK. We in the US have many more interesting ways of destroying these things than they do in the UK.

This will never pass in the US even 99% of the liberals are totally against it.
Just like getting rid of fossil fuels in 10 years. Never happen. We are pumping record amounts and drilling record # of new wells.

I wonder if they can federalize the program like the 55mph interstate speed limit?
They ‘federalized’ 55 by threatening the states that the Feds would not send highway tax dollars to states that did not comply. They did the same thing to raise the drinking age to 21. Seems to go against the spirit of the Constitution and Federalism, “but if it saves one life...”

In Houston about 15% of old cars have a temporary paper tag created by the dealer selling the car. They are valid for 90 days with the expiration date clearly visible. At stop lights I see tags expired in December, I see tags expired in October and last week I saw one expired in May 2021! So there has become a cottage industry of supplying temporary paper tags to those whose car is not registered, no insurance and the driver does not have a driver’s license. I see these people driving on Tollways where you have an ETag or they take a photo of your license plate and mail a bill for the toll. Well with fake tags, no one pays!
Maybe we will have paper tags for speed cameras..... just commenting for a friend... you know Harry Reid’s friend who said that Mitt Romney hadn't paid taxes for 10 year......

Therein lies the problem.
The states are not willing to fight for freedom and forgo funding from the bankrupt feds all according to the Left’s Marxist plan of DEPENDENCY, even though the foundation of our country is INDEPENDENCE from government coercion.
At some point, only the PEOPLE through their elected state representatives can stand up against the tyranny of the unconstitutional federal government.
But first, they have to recognize the THREAT of the feds about which many are blind as bats.

“The UK is where Speed Camera vandalism has been elevated to an art form.”
Wait until you have 5 times as many people, a large percentage of whom have rifles, doing the same here. We’re going to raise the bar on that particular art form. Hell, I want to see a reality TV show on it...should be very entertaining.

How’s that working for those arrested for what they allegedly did in DC last 6 Jan?

Yup. But he’s using the speed control point as a hook to get the system in place.
The rubes arent supposed to figure out the surveillance aspect until it’s too late.

We have those in Florida as well. But Even paper temp tags have serial numbers that can be traced to the dealership that issued the paper tag. If they start fining the dealerships for selling paper tags, which is illegal in Florida and I assume Texas as well, then the practice will stop...................

My guess, speed cameras verses 308...the 308 is probably undefeated.
And if they build them to withstand .308, there’s always thermite.

Would those proposed cameras be placed on Interstates, regular highways or just local roadways?
If Interstates, what is the minimum speed there?
Can you see a couple of dozen, semis, placing a rolling “Road Block”?
