Republicans in states across the country are pushing bills that would prohibit medical boards from disciplining doctors who promote, prescribe, and distribute unfounded COVID treatments that the Federal Drug Administration has said are ineffective and, in some cases, dangerous.
At least 11 state legislatures have introduced bills that limit medical licensing boards from taking action against professionals who prescribe hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin. In North Dakota and Tennessee, it’s already the law.
Abortion care aside, state legislatures have typically let the medical profession govern itself, leaving licenses to medical boards and professional organizations. But the promotion of unapproved COVID treatments and skepticism of scientific authority, fueled in part by former president Donald Trump, have created an environment where Republican-led legislatures have made an astonishing push to allow doctors to prescribe treatments that have become popular in right-wing circles.

Yes, and even the Federation of Medical Boards and the Boards of Pediatrics and Internal Medicine (of which I belong) are jumping on the bandwagon to remove licensure and board certification to those who choose to treat their patients with medications that have been approved for other purposes and have been shown to be safe over many years. Doctor patient relationships and decisions have always been sacrosanct EXCEPT now that Fauci’s dictates and outright false recommendations have been considered political gospel.

We might as well close down every pharmacy in the country if that’s the standard we use. I don’t of ANY DRUG that is always safe when used improperly, or is safe in 100% of the people who use it.
And Ivermectin, at least, is about as safe as any drug gets. Take 10 times the dose and you may get a short-term stomach ache, but that’s it. Try that with aspirin and you’ll have a hole in your stomach. Try it with Tylenol, and you’ll be a candidate for a liver transplant.

Yes. Now just try to find even ten senior Republican politicians willing to get in front of the cameras and denounce the medical establishment for its perfidy.

At various times, that would include eating eggs, drinking coffee and refusing to take statins.
In India Ivermectin reportedly stopped virus in its tracks. But here in the US, I have yet to find anyone who has taken it found any benefit from it. My brother, three friends, a doctor, all got no benefit from Ivermectin.

In some ways all science has become a religion (or cult if you will). Once some theory becomes accept it becomes heresy to question it.
A prime example today is the theory that man can effect the earth’s climate. This is as believable as the sun rotates around the earth. Yet to question it make you anti-science.
What is unfounded are the vaccines.
It’s great prophylaxis, in my experience and I’ve not had a sniffle in 2 years and I’ve traveled about extensively for the last 2 years for work and recreation. Also appears to have a large anti inflammatory effect…
Why don’t we use this tactic more often? As in “Democrats are making it easier for Marxists to push shady racial theories on the classroom.” Or “Biden’s Keystone cancellation boosts crackpot climate change theories.” :)
So these pinheads are claiming doctors should not do as they professionally determine. These pinheads are demanding that people die per the plan.
