Trump says he'll treat Jan. 6 rioters 'fairly' if reelected: 'If it requires pardons, we will give them pardons'

This wasn’t a case of stalking. Initial reports said a couple police officers were killed, one was reported to be hit with a fire extinguisher and died. Later it was said he was killed with mace. It wasn’t until Trump was long out of office that I was found no officers died from January 6, it was natural causes. And then you have Antifa breaking in windows fighting for who knows what. So let’s bash Trump because he was supposed to pardon everyone in DC on January 6 when he doesn’t know what the hell happened and who the hell they were and there was no time left to figure it all out. You Nevertrumpers are demented and so bad for our country.

True. RINO mouthpieces are already throwing coldwater on impeachment talk if Repubs rake control.

The base has a bloodlust and the GOPe is going to massively disappoint again.

“and to top it off, Trump aint the sharpest tool in the shed

so sad that Trump was our best hope. SAD, really sad”

You make me sick. Talk about badmouthing he who “brung you to the dance”. Anti-Trumpers on FR to me are equal to Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger. Rotten.

"So you pardon the ones you can, and leave a public instruction to the FBI not to round up any more who are not charged immediately with insurrection [that would be zero]."

President Trump was impeached for the second time by the House on January 13th. His second trial was conducted from February 9, 2021, and concluded with his acquittal on February 13th, so he was already gone. You don't think that if he'd pardoned as many as he could before he left office, that other Republican Senators wouldn't have voted to convict him because of it, so he'd never be able to run for office again? They would have used that as an excuse to put one more nail in his coffin. Look at how many of them voted to accept Biden's electors without question, and some that had planned to reject them like Rand Paul and Marcia Blackburn, turned tail on January 6th, and voted to accept them. By the way, how long do you think that public instruction you thought he should make to the FBI, would have lasted past 12 noon on January 20th? Biden would have rescinded it on the same day. You know that.

Well, they won't be disappointing me, because I won't be voting any time soon...not until voter fraud is completely eliminated. That won't be in my lifetime, so the GOP can piss off. That party's been dead to me since January 6th.

I’ll also ask how was Trump to pardon for mistreatment that hadn’t happened? The hundreds of people who were just on the Capital grounds and hadn’t been rounded up yet. The mistreatment was under the Biden administration. It was Biden who gave them no due process, who had the secret trials and treated them like terrorists at Guantanamo Bay where they would be actually treated better.

Trump’s IQ is very high.
He gets things done below budget, before deadline.
He is so far ahead of democrats in ability, he leaves them all

You Nevertrumpers are demented and so bad for our country.

Sorry, but I voted for Trump. Twice.

But that doesn't mean I can't bash him when he deserves it. And he deserves bashing for many reasons.

In 2016, I was pleased to vote for Trump.

In 2020, I held my nose when voting for Trump. He was a big disappointment.

He had two years during which he controlled Congress. Two years to fully fund the wall. He didn't do much.

He had two years to reel in Big Tech to prevent the deplatforming of his base. He had plenty of warning by 2017. He did nothing.

In 2020, he should have fought the lockdowns, done more to fight the protests.

As early as 2017, he should have devoted more time to election fraud. People were warning him.

But especially in the latter half of 2020, he should have been laser-focused on election fraud. Instead, he focused much of his last months on Kushner's Abraham Accords. It's as if Kushner was already resigned to Trump losing, and was hurrying through his personal priorities before Trump's (as he saw it) inevitable defeat.

And as a final insult, Trump pardoned hosts of sleazy, well-connected insiders, while he abandoned his supporters.

***No I do not, because it is illegal to impeach a former president. Trump knows it, congress knows it, and so should you.

They would have used that as an excuse to put one more nail in his coffin.
***That seems likely, but he is culpable here and needs to step up to the bar and take responsibility. He had the authority to pardon them and he didn’t use it. You’re saying it was for his own selfish political purposes.

Look at how many of them voted to accept Biden’s electors without question,
***Separate issue. There were several weeks between the election and inauguration where Trump failed to make the case... to them.

and some that had planned to reject them like Rand Paul and Marcia Blackburn, turned tail on January 6th, and voted to accept them.
***Yes, that happened because Trump chose to have a rally on that day and send his followers into the capitol. Notably, Trump did not join his followers to lead them. It would have been an extremely compelling political development for a standing president to get arrested on the steps of the capitol building alongside his followers.

By the way, how long do you think that public instruction you thought he should make to the FBI, would have lasted past 12 noon on January 20th?
***The instruction lasts for posterity. The willingness to follow it lasts for as long as we have a corrupt FBI, about ten seconds perhaps. But such corruption takes place in the light of day rather than in the shadows where it’s going on right now.

Biden would have rescinded it on the same day. You know that.
***But in the end there was nothing for Biden to rescind. You know that.

Two kinds of anti-Trumpers.

Neocon "Never Trumpers" who hated him from the start.

And Patriots like Ann Coulter, who were disappointed that Trump promised so much, and delivered so little.

This wasn’t a case of stalking.
***The vast majority of the demonstrators are charged with something as mundane as trespassing. He could easily pardon everyone for trespassing, and the more serious cases could proceed accordingly.

The 2nd impeachment was obviously pure politics. Surely even you can see that. Trump could have issued pardons and played hardball since it was a hardball political situation.

I would love to see how Ann Coulter could have possibly done better when surrounded by traitors throughout the entire DC apparatus.

Did so little? Are you insane? Defeated ISIS, lowered taxes, cleaned up our southern border and had illegal aliens deported, got rid of onerous rules and regulations on businesses and citizens, kept us out of wars, I could go on and on, and you say delivered so little? What in heaven’s name happened to your mind? Is it gone? Or are you just another run of the mill anti-Trumper spouting off.

It's about time someone proclaimed this. I've grown tired of all the weak-kneed 'conservative' commentators dancing around this issue. They always start the discussion with the "I've always said the rioters should never have entered the capitol." This totally misses the fact that some of the demonstrators were arrested for simply "trespassing" on the capitol lawn. This happened well after the barricades were removed, sometimes with the help of the capitol police. No one should be jailed for walking on the grass where there were NO signs or barricades to warn them away. A citation? - Maybe, certainly not jail. Attacking cops? - Yes. Damaging property? - yes. Jail? - No!

A couple of weeks ago I visited the Texas state capitol. There was a police car partially blocking the road. I simply walked around it, presuming it was there to block cars, not people. Then, horror of all horrors, I walked on the grass. There was no barricade blocking access to the grass. Had there been one earlier that had been improperly removed, should I have been jailed for insurrection? Of course not. It's time for more to say that.

I appreciate President Trump's leadership on this. It's too bad that it takes that before some commentators will acknowledge it.

Kept China and Russia in check.
Actually the world seem to respect the US again.
No wars.

He had Afghanistan exit on track until the senile pervert puppet screwed it up.

He likely would have had no vax mandate.

And I doubt inflation would be anywhere as bad ..if at all.
