Former President Donald Trump said during a rally in Texas on Saturday that he would consider pardoning those charged in connection with the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, saying he would treat them "fairly" if he were reelected.
At Saturday's rally in Conroe, Tex., Trump said, "If I run, and if I win, we will treat those people from Jan. 6 fairly."
"And if it requires pardons, we will give them pardons," he continued. "Because they are being treated so unfairly."

At first pass, you post like a never Trumper.
Kind of hard when the FBI is still rounding people up.
What are the odds that if the GOP takes one or both houses, that there will be a legitimate investigation into Jan 6, and the way the Jan 6 protesters have been treated.
***Not very good, I would say. Based on prior GOP record of sticking their head in the sand and acting as Assistant Democrats, RINOs, GOPes, and Fauxconservatives.
I am also upset that Trump hasn’t come to their defense as far as finding them decent legal representation, and paying for their legal fees. These people came to support him when he needed it, and paid with their freedom and reputations. Yet he has done nothing to help in their defense, or to attempt to secure freedom for those who truly were just trespassing or whatever.
***Yeah, I’m a Trumplican, a Trump fan. Yet I find myself in agreement with you on this.
Couldn’t Trump have already pardoned them between the 6th and leaving office on the 20th?
***Yes.
I remember being very disappointed that after the phony riot on the 6th the fight seemed to go out of the President. He didn’t do much for those last two weeks.
***He was in shock at the level of brazenness of the steal.
Hmmmmmm.... I agree with a never-trumper on a single item other than the O Stable Genius insult.
You’re just a troll pushing buttons by adding that insult.
AND while Trump’s at it let’s investigate the year and a half BLM and Antifa burned down our cities and caused two billion dollars worth of damage.
***A bilateral investigation into rioting on both sides. I would predict nothing gets done. We have entered into an age of political violence. There was a parallel to this in the Roman republic before it collapsed into an empire.
So you pardon the ones you can, and leave a public instruction to the FBI not to round up any more who are not charged immediately with insurrection [that would be zero].
The #FBI is still seeking to identify individuals who instigated violence at the U.S. Capitol on January 6. We've updated some posters with better photos of unidentified individuals. You can also issue a blanket pardon. If Carter could pardon all draft dodgers, Trump could have pardoned anyone at the capitol Jan 6th.
Too bad he didn’t do it when he was in office for another 15 days. And nice job giving the Dems the Senate, too.
Good point. Nixon was pardoned for stuff he hadn’t even been charged with yet. It appears pardon power is kind of extensive.
Great point. Not. Carter’s pardon of draft dodgers was extremely controversial and perhaps one of many reasons he was a one term & considered the worst president until Biden.
I am not a big fan of any politician
I like Trump, but he is just another NY city boy lived his life in a box.
and there is only so much a president can do anyway, the bureaucrats really run the show as directed by corporate interests
I was at home with covid in 1963 watching the three stooges on TV when the breaking news came in about the JFK assasination.
***So... you’re just some kind of troll or sumthin. I agree Trump is/was and will be the greatest president of my lifetime, including Reagan.
but
then there's reality
and trump would have to know that Jan 6 was a staged play to culminate the four year long coup
I hate it when my heroes fizzle out so I will go listen to joe Rogan and Rush limbaugh re-runs and dream about the good ol days
I didnt intend to be a troll , but I am extremely cynical about US and world politics, to me it’s like watching a comedy show where everyone lies to each other, this can’t be real
Okay, I get it. Cynicism. Like the phrase “cleanliness is next to godliness”, “cynicism is next to trollingness”. Or sumthin.
Here are some of Trump's pardons, including:
Ken Kurson, a friend of Jared Kushner’s, was also pardoned. He was charged in October with cyberstalking in connection to a bitter divorce.
Important that Kushner's sleazy friends get pardoned. Never mind the people who actually fought for Trump on 1/6.
The more power Republicans have, the more afraid they are to use it.
That's because Republicans believe that their base is fundamentally evil. That their principles (deportations, abortion restrictions, etc.) are evil.
So when Republicans attain power, they feel like criminals with stolen loot. They're afraid that if they spend their loot, Good People will notice and take it away from them.
