Travel has been completely blocked on both sides of the border. Semi-trucks have been parked in both lanes approaching the border on either side.

More than a thousand Albertans in hundreds of trucks and vehicles have descended on Alberta’s Coutts border and have stopped all cross-border travel.

We who have prepared will do just fine. Those whose idea of preparing is a six pack and a bag of Doritos are in for some unpleasant surprises. Going to get sporty from here on. Canucks aren’t the only ones fed up.

I didn’t watch the whole video, but one of the striking things that I saw was how clean Wellington St. was, in front of the Peace Tower (Centre Block of Parliament Hill). Like protests in the District of Corruption, when conservatives (or even just ‘severely normal’ people) protest, there is no mess. When socialists/communists protest, the ‘protest area’ is total damage and mess.

It’s all about perspective. Conservatives (and severely normal people) see someone else’s property, and they say, “It’s not mine, so I should leave it be.” The socialist/communist says, “It’s not mine, I don’t G.A.S. about it, so f🍁ck it! DESTROY IT!”

BTW, I grew up in d’Ottawa (yes, I know it’s ‘Ottawa’, but under both Trudeaux, this one his papa, Pierre, it is a FRENCH town), so I am familiar with the downtown. I spent many a night in the Byward Market area, or, as we used to call it, the ‘Wayward Market’.

That would NOT be hard to do on the bridges in the WNY area.

The Peace Bridge and the bridges to Canada in Niagara Falls are in very old, residential, and congested parts of Buffalo and Niagara Falls. Blockading them would take very little effort.

One major problem is that the Peace Bridge needs to be replaced, badly. It’s nowhere near big enough for the massive amount of traffic that uses it. Not to mention, it’s old and I don’t know what its structural integrity is like these days. AND, the Peace Bridge is at the mouth of the Niagara River where Lake Erie funnels into it. That bridge takes a beating constantly.

Discussions have been going on for decades between the countries about constructing the new one but everyone wants a slice of the pie, have gone nowhere. A new bridge could have been built by now.

At some point, the current Peace Bridge is going to need to be shut down for safety reasons, and that is going to REALLY screw up the supply chain for a large part of the east coast.

The bridges and border crossings east of Lake Ontario are also old and not wide enough and cannot handle the kind of increased truck traffic needed to compensate for the Peace Bridge being shut down.

Which, thinking about it, those border crossings would be easy to blockade as well.

The beauty of a very large truck protest is that LEOs can say “Move your truck else you will be ticked and towed...” but they have to start at the very beginning or the very end. End doesn’t work on a one way road. And waiting for each at the front to clear takes a lot of time.

A Mc Donald’s on the Canadian convoy route gave free HOT CHOCOLATE to any who asked—including the roadside supporters.

Re: They best way to support them is to provide food & drink to them.

Many are also helping them out with gas.
