new study has highlighted how American dependence on Taiwan for semiconductors could fuel a crisis conflict with China amid a global chip shortage.

The war game results from the Center for a New American Security were released on Thursday, comparing US reliance on Taiwanese chips to America's former dependence on the Middle East for oil.

The new war game envisions a scenario in which production at three Taiwanese semiconductor foundries suddenly fails, raising questions about whether a Chinese cyberattack is to blame.

In the scenario, the incident touches off a crisis between China in the US, devastating the world economy and potentially leading to a military confrontation.

Home to the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), the world's largest chip foundry, Taiwan produces more than half of the world's semiconductors, and nearly all of the highly advanced ones.

When does Congress take up the task of helping to bring back essential national security manufacturing back to the US?

Hitler’s drive to the Caucasus Mountains in 1942 was about grabbing the chip supply there.

The German war-machine couldn’t run without Instagram access, in fact Goebbels demanded access to all social-media to show Nazi cat videos.

They met their downfall when they stopped at Stalingrad to take selfies.

Center for a New American Security

Center for New Global WAR!!!!

Somehow I am on these guys mailing list and I get some of the things they are pushing which are idiotic. The guys behind them are in it for the money.

Taiwan is a vital interest but not because these corrupt enablers say it is.

You don’t like that war. Well what kind of a war do you want? Summer, winter, beach, mountains? I am sure we have what you are looking for.

How about $20B invested in an Ohio chip plant rather than $20B pi$$ed down some dangerous military industrial political complex lark?

The transformation of the military industrial complex is one of the great achievements of the Bush/Cheney admin. It used to be that most of the money went to acquiring equipment that only a few outfits could produce [stealth aircraft, nuclear submarines, etc.]. Now you can get very nice contracts while producing nothing much at all of any real military value.

I was referring to the Daily Mail author wanting some war.

We don’t want it, and I doubt China wants it.

The usual suspects are the ones who want it.
