Medical officer reverses course on recommendation..
Ouray County commissioners have decided not to pursue an indoor mask mandate, citing new advice from the physician advising the county, who originally recommended the mandate.
A work session scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 27 will still be held with officials from Ridgway, Ouray, the county’s school districts and local business organizations, but will instead focus on discussing resources and protocols in the different jurisdictions.
Dr. Andrew Yeowell, an emergency medicine physician at Montrose Regional Health, previously recommended the board consider a mask requirement. But in an email to Public Health Director Tanner Kingery on Tuesday morning, which Kingery read aloud during the commissioners’ meeting, Yeowell said he did not feel a mandate was necessary.
“I spoke with Tanner last night and I would be supportive of the county having consistent messaging to the community to mask with an appropriate mask,” Yeowell wrote. “I do not feel that a mandate is required at this time for our county, but that this decision is continuously reassessed and could change at any time in the future.”
“That’s a little bit of a shift since the last time we were discussing it,” Commissioner Jake Niece said. While he had previously been in favor of requiring masks, he said he wouldn’t continue pursuing it after Yeowell’s recommendation changed.

the irony to all of this nonsense is that NONE of the counties in Colorado have any enforcement authority regarding their phony mask “mandates” without state-wide emergency orders from the governor, and the governor has been refusing to extend his expired emergency orders for several months now ...
all of the local establishment media goes along with promoting these fake “mandates” like they’re something that is real, but the retail establishments know better, and the catnipman family hasn’t worn a mask a single time in any retail establishment in multiple counties with “mandates” since the gov’s emergency order expired , and we haven’t been challenged a single time in any retail establishment ... (OTOH, medical establishments have their OWN rules and enforce their OWN rules)

Went to a City Market in Mesa County today and there was a new sign saying masks required. We ignored it, walked in and looked around. About half the customers were wearing masks. We went about our shopping, no problems.
In the end, the people make the rules, enough just have to realize they can.
