Sorry but i would never convict someone just for gun possession. It is a right even for a criminal. Now armed robbery etc. different story.
I see Chicago still holds the record of 800 homicides in 2021. I recall Miami being a fairly dangerous city some time ago, but in 2021 it had only 245 homicides.
It appears they conducted a landmark study that concluded the police blame the DA, and the DA blames the police. I suppose the real finding is that it’s this dysfunction actually causing the issue.

That's precisely why there's a lot of hesitancy in Philly and other similar cities to prosecute this type of crime. A lot of people who might otherwise be denied CCWs still carry, not because they want to go rob a liquor store, but because they live in a neighborhood where it's there's a good chance they'll need to defend themselves at some point.

I’d be willing to bet more people are killed backing up to the edge of a cliff while taking a “selfie” with their cellphone than are killed by unaccompanied guns wandering our streets gunning people down. We need to ban cliffs and cellphones.
