The difference here is that the truckers ARE the trade unionists. They are more powerful politically than the Trudeau government. An attack on them is the same effect as creating a general strike in Canada. And it will likely result in a real bonafide General Strike in Canada.
And that brings the Trudeau government down…and it will never return.
This is a pattern for bringing down the Biden regime here. Create a General Strike and the government falls.
It depends on whether the Canadian military will obey Trudeau’s orders to fire on the “right wing insurgents” in their trucks.
Trudeau’s government ends the moment the first soldier pulls the trigger. And he’ll be Biden’s next asylum seeker.
So their just now coming back from Christmas Break? That was OVER a month ago.
Is anyone anywhere on earth STILL on Christmas Break this late in January?
How soon before Easter break? February 14th is Valentine’s Day, let’s just start it then and run it through May!
In fairness, on those monthly, week long (minimum) breaks, they SHOULD BE back home, in their riding ('district' in US?), listening to their constituents. Does it happen? Maybe, though not very likely, IMO.
We’ll see.
Suppose Trudeau is playing the same card. If so, we can expect government violence against trucker “insurgents” with the Canadian news media shutting off news about it while Trudeau supervises from Camp David.

I’m not sure I agree with that. From what I’ve seen, the police and the truckers have cooperated in a very professional, polite and helpful way with each other....the truckers even had police escorts for much of the way. If Frudeau was watching (and I have no doubt he was), he saw what happened when Premier Ford of Ontario tried to get the Ontario Provincial Police to implement random ‘covid stops’ last April (you get details here https://driving.ca/auto-news/news/ontario-police-say-no-thanks-to-fords-covid-19-random-stop-law ).... the police essentially refused. I’m not sure that the RCMP response will be anything different than the OPP... truckers haven’t done anything wrong. So what is Frudeau’s option after that... call in the army? If he tried that, there might be some who would support him including all those who think the great unvaxxed should be shot at dawn... but I suspect that there is no one who would support him.
As for the media, they all took a serious guvmint handout last year that was under the guise of ‘covid assistance’.... Since then, their reporting has been markedly different... they went from liberal to total liberal bootlickers. However, the cracks have started to show up quite significantly.... a week ago, the Globe and Mail had an editorial that had to be read twice since it was so out of character from what has been seen for the past two years. As little as two days ago, there weren’t any stories about the truckers in even a ‘relatively conservative’ paper like the Toronto Sun. Have a look now... I’ll bet there is half a dozen stories right at the top... https://torontosun.com/ In the end, it didn’t matter... nobody in the country who shows up at the overpasses to cheer the truckers on listens to the CBC anymore than PDJT voters listened to NPR..... there are too many other ways to communicate and getting the word out has not been a problem..... It seems that half the country had downloaded the Vello app for example. I think it is very clear why newspapers are reporting on something about the truckers now... the word got out without them and they may as well report on it before they have lost what little remaining credibility and relevance they have. Not reporting on this story just shaves another percent off the remaining but dwindling readership/viewership that they’ll never get back.
Frudeau is on the losing end of something that he can’t win unless he somehow manages to create complete cultural divide and diversion... he is already doing that between the vaxxed and the unvaxxed and this is now going to go into complete overdrive. This point was driven home this afternoon when looking at some tweets by bunch of folks who are so driven by fear, that their hate is nothing less than completely unhinged. As for the endgame for this, it’s fairly clear that Frudeau himself knows that he is in a box with no way out...and that is why he called a 5 day ‘covid outage’ that spans the time when everyone is going to show up in Ottawa (and by the way, it isn’t just the truckers showing up there, there are a ton of other demonstrations on there this weekend.) He might have thought he was being clever with this little idea of getting out of town but he has turned himself into a complete laughing stock.
One other observation, Frudeau has never been a leader... he’s just a follower and an inept one at that. Right now there is plenty of news coming out of Europe and elsewhere where it’s all about ending lockdowns etc. I suspect that Frudeau will look at some of that news and figure .... “ok, I’ve got an out because others are already getting rid of their lockdowns, mandates etc., so I guess I can do it too.”
There are a couple of other wildcards out there that will make things much worse for Frudeau... It has been reported that there are only about 15% of the truckers that are unvaxxed. That doesn’t mean that the other 85% are in support of the government and if they start to throw their support
behind the truckers in the convoy, it’s lights out for the government. The second wild card is the support of U.S. truckers and they have plenty of reasons to support the Canadians since they cross the same border..... Many U.S. drivers are already in support of what the Canadians are doing but if this continues to increase and if they shut the border down, the ratchetting of this just went on nitro....

I haven’t worked one single 24hr stretch that we have not gone into a known Wuhan positive persons house and hauled them to the hospital in probably months. We do sometimes wear a mask. Or not. Not that it does any good.

I’ve read that many, in the Ca military, are WITH these truckers.
I guess we’ll find out, if/when the rubber meets the road, so to speak.
