Prince Andrew demands jury trial in US

Lawyers for Prince Andrew have written to a US judge to demand a jury trial in a civil lawsuit brought by a woman who has accused him of sexual assault.

Virginia Giuffre, 38, alleges that he sexually assaulted her when she was a teenager at the homes of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.

The Duke of York has consistently denied all the allegations against him.

A US lawyer called the latest legal filings a "PR move", saying Ms Giuffre had already asked for a jury trial.

Lisa Bloom, who represents a number of Maxwell's and Epstein's accusers, said Prince Andrew's request was "meaningless" as it was Ms Giuffre's constitutional right to have a jury trial if she asked for one.

In the court documents, filed on Wednesday, his legal team submitted a number of reasons why they believe the case should be dismissed.

One factor they asked the court to consider was the issue of consent.

The document said: "Assuming, without admitting, that Giuffre has suffered any injury or damage alleged in the complaint, Giuffre's claims are barred by the doctrine of consent."

The 11-page document states that Prince Andrew "admits that he met Epstein in or around 1999", but denies that he participated in any abuse with the late financier.

Elsewhere, it denies Ms Guiffre's claim that Prince Andrew was a close friend of Maxwell.

The document says: "Prince Andrew hereby demands a trial by jury on all causes of action asserted in the complaint."

I’ve no sympathy for men who take advantage of teenage girls, but it’s always been my understanding that if you seek legal redress for some alleged wrong, you’ve got to do it in a timely manner.

Didn’t some reporter ask Trump about flying on Epstein’s airplane—then Trump said he never went to that filthy island but ask Prince Andrew? Is this correct?

As far as Bill goes, having grown up with lots of friends who lived in Arkansas in the 1980’s they talked about all sorts of wild parties at the governor’s mansion, people just disappearing, entire families being killed with the perpetrator never caught, drugs everywhere, etc. All kinds of weird stuff.

Never once with all the wild rumors going on about Bill did anyone mention underaged girls. Not once. You’d have to have that ruled by a jury to make me believe it.

There are jurisdictional issues here. IIRC, Epstein had properties in New York, London, New Mexico, Florida as well as his private island in the Indies and other locales. At which properties does Ms. Gioffree claim to have been “abused” by the prince? Seems to me, that’s the main jurisdictional location for the trial.

Be careful what you claim to wish for, Prince.
A lot of Americans are vigorously against anything ‘Royal’.

There’s an old saying when it comes to old, established families (and not just royalty). It is this: Whatever you do, DON’T EMBARRASS THE FAMILY! That is second only to the #1 Rule: NEVER BETRAY THE FAMILY!

He’s heard about the BLM and Antifa types who get away with looting, burning and murder, and knows all about the Clintons so he thinks only Deplorables go to prison in the good ol’ USA.

Nice place to escape justice.

what he did to the innocent young girls.

Randy Andy may be an unlikeable sob but this is not an innocent young girl. Look at her. She claims she was a slave. She loved flying around the world on private planes meeting famous people. She had plenty of time calling her parents or friends to 'escape' from her plight. She never did. Then when she became older and 20 pounds heavier she decided to become of victim of slavery.

I would be an impartial juror.

Guilty!

What were the charges again?

This tells me that either she won’t settle, or his offer was short a zero or two.

“Foreman of the jury, what is your verdict?”

“Your Honor, we the jury find the defendant, Andrew Windsor...Off with ‘is ‘ead!”

Yeah, I can dream.

It seems that you have pronounced him liable without a trial.
He can’t be found guilty because he isn’t accused of any crime.
I will let the jury decide who is telling the truth.

I was wondering when someone would mention the elephant in the room?   A girl who begins a life of prostitution at the age of 17 is not an innocent young girl.
