Thousands of Islamic State fighters have surrendered after almost a week of fighting at a prison in Syria. The U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces announced Wednesday that they had re-taken control of the al-Sina’a prison in the northeastern Syrian town of Hasakah. ..
The attack on al-Sina’a prison in Hasakah began with a series of car bombings at the prison complex, triggering a riot after some detainees overpowered guards. The prison is one of several across northeastern Syria, where thousands of captured ISIS fighters have been held since 2019, when coalition-led Kurdish forces captured the last major territory held by the group.
U.S. forces had assisted the SDF with airstrikes by Apache helicopters and F-16 jets.
On the ground, Bradley fighting vehicles provided perimeter security to SDF forces. Other footage showed what appeared to be U.S. special operations personnel taking up positions around the prison.

But seriously, it looks like the party is over for the attempted ISIS jailbreak in Syria.
The thousands of al Queada who were held at Bagram Airbase in Afghanistan are another matter altogether. Sloe Joe turned them all over to the Taliban, who are employing them. We have not heard the last of them.
Well they had to let them out so they could come here.
I’d expect some of them are boarding us paid flights to here right now, massless, unVaxed, wit the paperwork to vote in the fall elections .... oh wait. They don’t need paperwork for that.
Well, for the most part we were all spared the constant deluge of harping about a prison riot in Syria....who knew? And the US was providing support? GREAT! What else don’t we know? I know I keep my news watching/listening down to a minimum but this never came up that I can recall.....
“Thousands of ISIS surrender!”
So, does that mean they are in American custody?
Are we, the people now responsible for the care, housing and feeding of these doped up Kill-Bots?
Tell me again why we have a bunch of ISIS kriminals in jail? Shouldn’t we turn them over, one at a time, to the families of people they’ve killed? They are not in uniform. They are illegal combatants. Summary trials in the field are entirely appropriate. That’s the way to take the shine off of whatever attraction this bunch has to newbys.
No, Biden and the company gave them a free flight to the US to join their brethren. Bringing jobs to the USA.

Kill them, do not capture them.
Should have used one of those big fuel air things that we used to drop. Flattened them all. 100% serious.
But...why US? Does not Syria have an air force?
“does that mean they are in American custody?”
The pro-American, Kurdish-dominated local SDF (Syrian Defense Forces) administer the territory, and run the prisons. The US supports them when needed with airstrikes, equipment, training and such.
“Tell me again why we have a bunch of ISIS kriminals in jail?”
Those Kurds do not have a death penalty, and the nations these ISIS folks come from, refuse to take them back.
WooHoo some new migrants!
I wonder what happened to all of those Glocks we accidently gave them?
burn them with fire
bing bang done, blame it on Iran
Don’t feed them.
After a few days put enough food out for one of them and let them fight for it.
Winner eats. Loser becomes Soilent Green for the next fight.
