Jan. 25 (UPI) -- The Federal Aviation Administration on Tuesday barred several Boeing aircraft from landing at airports where 5G wireless signals could cause interference.

The agency issued an Airworthiness Directive prohibiting Boeing 747-8, 747-8F and 777 planes from landing at airports where interference could occur, affecting approximately 336 planes in the United States and 1,714 worldwide.

"The FAA issued the AD because many systems on Boeing 747-8, 747-8F and 777 aircraft rely on the altimeter, including auto throttle, ground proximity warning, thrust reversers and Traffic Collision Avoidance System," the agency said.

Overall, the FAA said it has approved 90% of the United States' commercial plane fleet to land in poor visibility at airports where a risk of interference from 5G wireless signals is present.

Alaska Air regional carrier Horizon Air was forced to cancel all commercial flights in and out of Paine Field on Tuesday due to the restrictions on low visibility flying and 5G interference.

Paine field is basically Boeing Field as it is next to their headquarters.

Why is 5g so important that buffer areas around airports are so hard to implement

What a huge muster cluck this is.

pretty much the only thing I can be sure about is that it is Trump's Fault.

5G is important to ATT and Apple. Pretty much nobody else. The damage that is going to come from these mini microwave ovens is going to be spectacular. And there is nowayinhell they can isolate airports from 5G transmissions. Wait until people find out their 5G cell phones won’t work at the same airport.

The 5G signal is short range, higher frequency, microwave on the energy spectrum. It requires a lot more, closer together, towers and they won’t be safe in your neighborhood. If a tower is nearby convert your house into a Faraday cage.

But just to put a bow on it,round up everyone with a 5G phone and give them all triple clot shots. That should finish off a generation of sheeple in jig time?

Unbelievable, isn’t it? The FAA auctioned off that 5G spectrum. One would think that they are competent enough to know about this problem before allocating that spectrum for auction.

During college, I was on flight to St.Louis Lambert Field around 1970. I had a small FM radio with me and turned it on when we got close to the airport and final. A visibly shaken stewardess came down the aisle, spotted me, and roughly told me to turn it off adding something like “We are lucky we made it.” That was my introduction to EMI.

The $$$$ from AT and T and Verizon to the politicians is more important than the FCC exercising any regulatory authority in this matter.

This is a failure of the FCC and FAA. Both have known for years that 5G band C was coming, neither acted. The FCC did their own study, claimed it was safe and went ahead with the auction. They pocketed $80B from that auction.

I was unaware that there is a problem 4g.

I would expect all the 4g towers to stay active, so people can have internet in airports.

I am a little more annoyed that 3g is going away, many times there are areas where there is only 3g service, some cars and alarm systems depend on that as well. (as well as most dumb flip phones)

So it wasn’t BS but I must say, helluva job by our fedgov in the approval of rolling out 5G. Gee, we didn’t think of airplanes.

They want every single person “connected”. They could care less if people can fly and probably prefer no one except for the elite to be able to fly.

Great Reset!

I do not think so, Horizon does not fly boeing planes out of Paine Field and they still canceled all their flights.

I feel bad for all the pilots, especially if Bruce Willis is anywhere near the airport

any excuse to further depress the economy: sell spectrum that makes aircraft unsafe to fly ...

Flying w your fully vaxxed myocarditis pilot is okay.. 5 g interference is not okay. I won’t fly for any reason til the mask madness is over.

Yeah, ban legitimate commerce so teenage girls use their phones to watch pictures of friends making duck lips on TikTok.

Microwave ovens use 2.4 ghz. Not 5 ghz. Actually 2.4 is worse than 5g. 2.4 g is one of the older cell bands. 2.4 g is bad for any water based life forms as water resonates at 2.4 thus why microwave ovens work.

Facts are not the same as hype.

The FCC auctioned it. The FAA was in the dark, apparently

4G didn’t use this newly auctioned ‘mid band’ C-band spectrum. Only 5G can use the higher frequencies.

The issue is RF interference, not the “G” of the network.
