Republicans Plan To Win Back The Senate, Then Do Nothing, Per Usual

Republicans cannot afford to do what they have largely always done with a Senate majority: set it on a shelf, polish it, and admire it from afar.

The 2022 agenda for House Republicans may be out of touch with the current political moment, but at least they can say they’re trying. Over on the other side of the Capitol, Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., the leader of the Senate’s Republican conference, has announced he’s not even putting out an agenda for 2022.

According to reporting by Axios last month, McConnell told a room full of donors, lobbyists, and in-cycle senators that he would not be putting forward an agenda outlining the priorities for his conference should Senate Republicans regain a majority in 2022. When asked by CNN last week what the GOP agenda would be in a potential majority, McConnell responded, “That is a very good question and I’ll let you know when we take it back.” He went on, “This midterm election will be a report card on the performance of this entire Democratic government, the president, the House, and the Senate.”

In other words, McConnell and GOP senators seem prepared to run solely on a platform detailing how bad the other guy is, and that scrupulously and intentionally avoids discussing what they intend to do about it.

It would be helpful and popular if a Repub Congress re-embraced Trump’s plan of repealing three regulations for every new regulation they impose on us.

In other words, the only thing that McConnell learned was to run a basement campaign like Joe Biden did.

Like that's a bad thing.

Raise your hand if Congress has ever done anything positive for you...That they didn't come back and take away later.

Doing nothing would be great as compared to what the democrats are trying to do.

And we have to remember that some of Biden's slippage is from the lefties who don't think he's lefty enough. They will latch onto any conservative proposals as an excuse to return "home."

Yes, but I doubt we’ll make much headway with Biden (or any other democrat) in the Whitehouse unless we have a veto-proof majority. But after we retake the presidency in 2024 and hold the majority in the congress and senate, then we can roll. Especially if it’s Trump as president.

McCarthy announced the 'Commitment to America' a couple of weeks ago. Bet you missed it. I'd say just about everyone did.

The Republican base is changing. We are insisting on action and voting in people that will give it to us. ie... VA and FL.

A bunch of waste-of-skin RINOs doing nothing, IMO, is still better than the psychotic Democraps running us pedal-to-the-metal straight towards Hell. I’ll take anything I can get.

Republicans play the game for the sake of playing the game.

Democrats play to win.

“Winning back the House and Senate does nothing with Biden still there.”

Wrong

Impeach the senile basetard, and all the others.
Investigate and IMPRISON the traitors.

Can gets lots done, if one was so inclined..

Repukes can slow that right down if they actually cared to stop them. If the country has to be won through the courts that’s not going to work out well irrespective of who controls the Senate

This mentality will never save the country. You think there will always be a Repuke Senate if you just get more Mitt’s and Lisa’s elected? Nope. You need both parties to be sane. Instead of fighting tooth and nail to get Lisa 6 more years you should help get a sane Rat over the hump in the primary and get Lisa the heck out. Ideally, get her out in the primary but if not at least there is a sane Rat to replace her. They don’t have to agree with you on everything but someone who won’t spend all their time impeaching Trump, for example, or trying to destroy all the institutions and voting rules etc. would be good enough. This way the Rino’s go away and the leftist go away.
