Republicans Plan To Win Back The Senate, Then Do Nothing, Per Usual

Republicans cannot afford to do what they have largely always done with a Senate majority: set it on a shelf, polish it, and admire it from afar.

The 2022 agenda for House Republicans may be out of touch with the current political moment, but at least they can say they’re trying. Over on the other side of the Capitol, Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., the leader of the Senate’s Republican conference, has announced he’s not even putting out an agenda for 2022.

According to reporting by Axios last month, McConnell told a room full of donors, lobbyists, and in-cycle senators that he would not be putting forward an agenda outlining the priorities for his conference should Senate Republicans regain a majority in 2022. When asked by CNN last week what the GOP agenda would be in a potential majority, McConnell responded, “That is a very good question and I’ll let you know when we take it back.” He went on, “This midterm election will be a report card on the performance of this entire Democratic government, the president, the House, and the Senate.”

In other words, McConnell and GOP senators seem prepared to run solely on a platform detailing how bad the other guy is, and that scrupulously and intentionally avoids discussing what they intend to do about it.

Well, isn’t that the Republican way?

It’s not completely accurate to say they’ll do nothing. They’ll make a few marginal, cosmetic changes around the edges, hoping that’s enough to satisfy the base.

The reason is, China, having bought and paid for he and his wife and their family’s future, will not let McTurtle do anything to upset their applecart.

All they need to be, to keep the cushy and lucrative job, is just a little bit better or more attractive than the alternative. It’s all in the margins.

“run solely on a platform detailing how bad the other guy is”

not that I agree but this is right out of the democrat playbook and it seems to work for them. Of course, they tell monstrous lies but that doesn’t seem to matter either

Author is correct, nothing will change except their excitement at being back in power. They are a feckless group, and I just ignore them now.

“If McTurtle is still running things we might as well give up.”

Naah. Give up on The swamp? Sure. That’s a den of vipers if there ever was one. Where the action is gong to be is with the states.

Hmmm, the MAGANMR party.

Am I right in assuming that’s the MakeAmericaGreatAgainNoMoreRino party? If so I LOVE IT!

What we can’t deny is without the turtle having some backbone, Trump would have only got 1 SC justice, Not McConnells fault if you don’t like trumps appointments, but trump would only have 1 not 3, any good that did or may come from the SC over the next decade is solely cause of Mitch. I don’t like him, but it’s tough to hate him. I don’t think roe will be overturned, but without Mitch it would not even be being considered now at the SC.

You don’t hate him for voting to confirm Merrick Garland as AG?

Consider the phrase “Kabuki theater”. And no, it didn’t take much courage to confirm Trump’s SC nominees.
