US staged a coup in Ukraine – here’s why and how
Many people roll their eyes when they hear “George Soros” and think of conspiracy theories. But Soros’ own group – IRF or International Renaissance Foundation – admits in its 2015 annual report that it has spent more than $180 MILLION in Ukraine since 1990.
##
In 2013, Soros, NED and other NGO’s riled up some ordinary people in Kyiv. (BTW, outside Kiev, there were no protests. In many parts of Ukraine, people are very pro-Russia and were happy with President Yanukovych).
##
In summary, to advance misguided geopolitical goals, U.S./E.U. officials engineered protests and chaos and drove a democratically elected president out of the country. Then, without an election, new oligarchs – a billionaire and an IMF guy – were handpicked by the West to become the President and the Prime Minister of Ukraine! Democracy in action!
Conclusion
That’s the truth about the coup in Ukraine, and it hasn’t benefited anyone other than the warmongers. Ukraine is split in half and stuck in a frozen civil war; its debt-to-GDP ratio has doubled; pensions, social services and minimum wages ($140 a month) have been slashed; and the people are still ruled by corrupt oligarchs.
Thanks, at least you had an article to point to. Some on FR, just post crap with no backup.
I would point out a couple of issues with this article.
This website is FAR LEFT. As Reagan once said, “so far left, they’ve left America”.
The article provides very little proof of ANY US Gov plot to overthrow the Ukrainian government. There are claims about Soros. I have no idea what Soros did or didn’t do.
One thing we’ve learned over the years, is Washington can not keep a secret. Overthrowing of foreign governments, CIA plots, 9-11 black sites in Europe, all those things eventually come out. NYTIMES, WAPOST, some author, some Congress critter, makes it public.
With Ukraine, no such claims from any of those areas.
The article has a factual error. It states: “BTW, outside Kiev, there were no protests. In many parts of Ukraine, people are very pro-Russia and were happy with President Yanukovych”. This is factually wrong. I distinctly remember Lviv having protests and sending people to Kiev to join the revolution.
From wiki: “Citizens of Lviv strongly supported Viktor Yushchenko during the 2004 Ukrainian presidential election and played a key role in the Orange Revolution. Hundreds of thousands of people would gather in freezing temperatures to demonstrate for the Orange camp. Acts of civil disobedience forced the head of the local police to resign and the local assembly issued a resolution refusing to accept the fraudulent first official results.[93] Lviv remains today one of the main centres of Ukrainian culture and the origin of much of the nation’s political class.
In support of the Euromaidan movement, Lviv’s executive committee declared itself independent of the rule of President Viktor Yanukovych on 19 February 2014.[94]”

Here is a picture and article from Lviv in late 2013.

“Not Cowered: Lviv EuroMaidan”
10,000 people at the Lviv rally. The nationofchange article definitely has some facts wrong.
