If it was illegal, then I’d blame the authorities for not enforcing the laws against it.

“NY Gov blames ‘shot from an illegal gun’ for killing of NYPD officers”

So...., if the gun were “legal”, the shooting would have been okay??????

If it had been a “legal” KNIFE, a stabbing would be okay????

If it had been a “legal” HAMMER/BASEBALL BAT, the blunt force trauma would be okay????

Gun, knife, hammer, baseball bat, where is the common denominator?

THE CRIMINAL!, not his weapon of choice.

Focus governor, I’m sure you can do it if you really try.

IT’S NOT THE GUN!

"So, if the gun were legal, the perps would not have used it?"

The gun was legally owned at some point in its life, because it was stolen in Baltimore in 2017. The person who legally owned it must have reported it stolen. That's how they knew it was stolen. Instead of blaming the gun, Gov. Skeletor should be focusing on the continual theft of legal guns by perps who then illegally carry them across State lines to use in their criminal acts. This Governor should be more concerned over the fact that she, Cuomo, and De Blasio, released hundreds, perhaps thousands of violent offenders from prisons and jails because of Covid, and none of those released will be required to complete their original court-ordered sentences. On top of that, repeat offenders aren't being locked up, but are allowed to remain free to commit even more crimes. When you reward offenders by letting them go free, you are encouraging more crime. I want to know when this guy's last release from jail or prison occurred, and what the reason for his release was. He's got a long record.

So, blame the gun rather than the felon out on probation.🙄

And here I was thinking that shots from an illegal criminal did the killing. I’m glad the gov cleared this up.

Aren’t they pretty much all illegal in NY?

I think the politicians are hoping for more laws, to make guns 'Double Secret Illegal' - which will make all guns instantly disappear, and then all crime will cease...

there is no such thing as an “illegal gun”
there are only illegal or unconstitutional “gun laws”

“Certainly was NOT the individual that pulled the trigger’s fault....../s

You’re right. They should not be concerned with the gun, just the trigger. Don’t sell or allow into the state guns with triggers and if someone gets one in, they can indite the trigger and the other parts of the gun for accessory. To my knowledge, triggers have no privileges in the Constitution. The trial won’t be lengthy.

And the sentence is meltdown to go into another plaque for the World Trade Center. Which reminds me, hopefully they won’t consider aircraft an assault weapon and blame the flabs.

Lets see if this Mayor has the guts to re-enact the Jim Crow laws which forbade black people from touching a gun.

https://www.bostonglobe.com/2021/07/31/opinion/very-racist-history-gun-control/

“For much of American history, gun-control measures, like many other laws, were used to oppress African Americans,” Adam Winkler, a constitutional scholar at UCLA, has written.

In blatant disregard of the Second Amendment’s guarantee, Southern states enacted laws prohibiting Black people, enslaved and free alike, from owning firearms.

A Florida statute enacted in 1825 empowered white citizen patrols to “enter into all Negro houses and suspected places,” search for weapons, and “lawfully seize and take away all such arms, weapons, and ammunition.” In 1831, the Maryland legislature passed a law banning free Black residents from carrying arms.

The Tennessee constitution — which had formerly guaranteed gun rights to “the freemen of this State” — was amended in 1834 to restrict those rights only to “the free white men of this State.”

It’s pretty safe to say that the guns owned by gun grabber Michael Bloomberg’s heavily armed, no neck bodyguards are legal. Guns that you would like to own for self protection, not so much.

Not quite...

The defund/demoralize is part of a greater plan.

The ARE intending to imprison conservatives. The problem for the left is that the jails are full of “our” prisoners (real criminals) and they want to empty those jails to put in “their” criminals (us).

I would contend that the 16th, 17th and 19th amendments have done far more damage to this country than the thankfully repealed 18th ever did.

Two officers could have been saved if they would have sent Social Workers instead.
