As anti-vaccine activists from across the country prepare to gather on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial on Sunday, they are hoping their rally will mark a once-fringe movement’s arrival as a lasting force in American society.
That hope, some public health experts fear, is justified.
Almost two years into the coronavirus pandemic, the movement to challenge vaccines’ safety — and reject vaccine mandates — has never been stronger. An ideology whose most notable adherents were once religious fundamentalists and minor celebrities is now firmly entrenched among tens of millions of Americans.
Baseless fears of vaccines have been a driving force among the approximately 20 percent of U.S. adults who have refused some of the most effective medicines in human history: the mRNA vaccines developed against the coronavirus by Pfizer, with German partner BioNTech, and Moderna. The nation that produced Jonas Salk has exported anti-vaccine propaganda around the globe, wreaking havoc on public health campaigns from Germany to Kenya.
That propaganda has also found its way into many reaches of American life. It has invaded people’s offices and shaped the daily decisions of school principals. It has riven families and boosted political campaigns. What was once an overwhelming public consensus on vaccine safety is now a new front in the nation’s culture wars. It is no accident that some in the anti-vaccine movement are describing Sunday’s rally as their first equivalent of the March for Life, the annual antiabortion rally that took place in Washington on Friday.

The Washington Post is, as usual, mischaracterizing today’s rally. IMHO, most attendees are people who are against COVID-19 related mandates and restrictions. Most will not be against people voluntarily choosing to be vaccinated, particularly by the elderly, frail, infirm and those suffering co-morbidities such as obesity or diabetes.
What a bull$hit propaganda headline.
Not wanting to be one of Fauci lab rats with an unproven mRNA gene therapy on has nothing to do with being anti-vax.
Most people that have an issue with this mRNA gene therapy have had vaccines and are pro vaccine. THIS is not a vaccine. It is an experimental mRNA gene therapy. Hence, why there is an Emergency Use Authorization.

How many will be bothered by ‘mare’ bowser’s ‘popo’ for not having a vax pass? Is there an exception in their permit? Is it a D.C. permit or parks service? Beware of “eppsers” infiltraiting the ranks.

got it, wapo: anyone who doesn’t want to be injected with an essentially untested experimental gene therapy that has never before been tried on the human race is an ignorant rube, including those whose doctors have told them that under no circumstance should they receive ANY vaccination because their immune systems are too compromised, as well as tens of thousands of highly-educated researchers and medical professionals who’ve looked at the data and who have grave concerns about the negative drawbacks to this dangerous medicine ...
If many “people of color” are hesitant to get the vaccine, then the author of this WP article must SURELY be a RACIST!!!!!

Baseless, eh? One of the woke buzzwords. I’ll tell you some things that are “baseless”.
Ignoring natural immunity.
Mask mandates.
Vaccinating children.
Mandatory vaccinations of otherwise healthy people not at high risk.
Claiming multiple jabs will keep you from getting Covid…err…will keep you from getting a bad case of Covid.
Locking down a nation to stop a pandemic.
Ignoring the VAERS system.
