You all need to compare Trump 2016 and 2022 in both pictures and video.

Time and age has clearly taken it’s toll=physically and mentally. If you look at him with an open mind you can see he is not as energetic or sharp in 2022 as 2016. .. and 2024 is 3 years away.

Could DeSantis Beat Trump?

Could Rich Lowry roll up in a little ball and flush himself?

“extremely unlikely the governor can maintain his exalted status in the party until 2028”...I don’t understand the basis for this pronouncement at all.

I agree. Presuming he's reelected this year, he'll be term limited in 2026, he'll leave office in 2027 at the advanced age of 49. Unless his second term is somehow a disaster, he'd be in great position. Likely without an opponent of Trump's stature.

National Review hates Trump. Same thing as 2016. They devoted an entire issue in an attempt to stop Trump.

That’s fine. My point is that if age was really an impediment for a presidential contender, then Biden never would have been nominated in the first place.

Becausee would be out of politics for a year, and if Trump picks a really hot VP pick, the VP will become the frontrunner and it’s over for Desantis. Ron better hope for the VP selection.

Never Trumpers like Richie and the National Review got a right to wet dream, don’t they?

It's rumored that he's an upcoming force behind the Lincoln Project's NAMBLA alliance.

This will be the epitaph on Rich Lowry’s tombstone:

Once a never-Trumper idiot, always a never-Trumper idiot

>> 2024 is 3 years away. <<

More to the point, 2029 is seven years away. And 2033 is eleven years away.

Also, Trump was kinda like Ahnold in Terminator 2. We really need a hero like Robert Patrick’s T-1000.

A Trump/DeSantis ticket would set a GOP hold on the WH for 12 years. Trump could even step down with 6 months to go in his term giving DeSantis an incumbent status.

I don't get this infatuation with DeSantis' military career. That element of his background puts him in the same company as Pete Butt-fudge (or whatever the hell his name is), John Kerry, and John McCain.

Who the hell really thinks that makes him a more attractive candidate? The last thing we need is another guy who punched his ticket in the military as one step in building a resume for a political career.

This isn't the 1970s or 1980s, folks. So few Americans have any connection to the military that most voters don't even give a damn about a candidate's military background anymore.

But after dementia Joe never again. I can see Biden being replaced later this year or early next and it is going to be messy. He is fading fast even the liberal media are like WTF?

After that no one is going to elect and old geezer.

Trump isn’t going to be the nominee. I don’t know who is. But Trump cannot get enough independent voters. Period. If he gets the nomination, he loses.

Plus he will be 79. 4 years past the average males expiration date means stuff goes wrong with no warning.

Don’t vote for anyone over 70.

The case against waiting is that it’s extremely unlikely that the governor can maintain his exalted status in the party until 2028.

When you have your window, you seize the day. Like JFK. Obama. DeSantis' best chance might be 2024. Who knows what the world will be like in 2028.

I for one am sick of all this talk about 2024. In political time, it’s an eternity away. There are more than enough problems in the here and now, even if you just want to stick with politics.

DeSantis’ main question is can he win Governor again in 202, when he is running against a former Governor himself.

Trump’s main question is has he done enough to stop election fraud, starting with the elections in 2022.

Those are big unknowns, no one is talking about. Once those immediate questions are answered, and the dust from 2022 settles, people will actually start announcing whether they are going to run for something in 2024, and we can worry about that then. But any discussions about it now are simply distracting from the serious questions we face now.

No. Primaries are base elections and right now the base is firmly behind Trump.

Run WITH Trump as VP. Only 4 years (not the usual 8 to wait) and then run for President (4 years Trump + 8 years DeSantis = 12 years (TWELVE YEARS) of political control by adults. Enough time to actually FIX things.

The Democrat Party would fracture into several diverse factions and, be no more (RIP), as a force in politics.

Praise the Lord! I hope this is/was your plan all along Lord.
