STAVANGER, Norway (AP) — Convicted mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik spends his days in a spacious three-room cell, playing video games, exercising, watching TV and taking university-level courses in mathematics and business.
Halfway through a 21-year sentence and seeking early release, Breivik, 42, is being treated in a way that might seem shocking to people outside of Norway, where he killed eight in an Oslo bombing in 2011, and then stalked and gunned down 69 people, mostly teens, at a summer camp.
But here — no matter how wicked the crime — convicts benefit from a criminal justice system that is designed to offer prisoners some of the comforts and opportunities of life on the outside.
Still, Breivik's extreme case is testing the limits of Norway’s commitment to tolerance and rehabilitation.

They failed at blowing this guys brains out when they had the chance.
They will sit there and debate how THEY failed. As opposed to the clearly obvious answer.
Oh, come on....Give the guy a break.
He didn’t walk around inside the Capital building or something real bad like that.
Deeeeaaaarrrrr Officer Krupke! . . .
Release him to the families of his victims.
Its been rightly said that the people with manly genes in Scandinavia were removed from the population’s gene pool by Viking adventurers who did not return, emigration or casualties of war. The wimp genes now dominate in those places.
These idiots take a legit problem like illegal immigration/excessive immigration or say overuse of power in the Ruby Ridge case and use it as a pretense for mass murder.
The end result besides death of innocents is hardening of the other side against those reasonable complaints.
On a much less scale are the few hundred who rioted on the Capitol building on Jan 6. The left has made so much headway because of that. Even Steve Bannon said on his show it ruined the plans for something like 6 hours of nationalized coverage of election irregularities that the electors were going to present to the nation.
Screw the left and screw these radical extremists on the right that ruin everything.
I’m sure the families who lost loved ones to this homicidal maniac are pleased the country hasn’t updated it’s justice system to deter senseless killings by jihadists and left wing extremists.
But his mum in Norway said “Yah, yah. But he’s basically a good boy.
Useful video on Norwegian slang. Apparently a typical average Norwegian young woman narrator.

He will never leave prison alive
I know little about this far north outpost. Based on their laws for murder It would be probable that abortion is highly encouraged and celebrated.
And God is saying “Hold m’beer” when this guy eventually shows up.
In 1967, Polish mercenary Rafal Ganowicz was asked what it felt like to take human life, “I wouldn’t know, I’ve only ever killed Communists.”
It wasn’t just some kiddie Christian day camp he shot up... It was a Communist indoctrination camp teaching young adults, not just kids, to be better Communists.
Not excusing what he did in any way, but he was a monster killing monsters in the making.
I expect people to completely miss the import of what I’m saying and go straight to the knee-jerk reactions of “this was horrible and not the right way to do this”.
Yes. No sh*t Sherlock. I get that.
Remember that when the Commies complete their take-over of our Government and they are loading us onto boxcars to “get vaccinated”.
Should'a been 3 minutes.
When killers or rapists are released, those who,are involved in releasing them should be held accountable if the person kills or rapes again. You can bet there will be far fewer releases if that were the case.
He went after the children of the elite Norwegian leaders who were bringing in huge numbers of immigrants. His reasoning was that to kill immigrants themselves was stupid but rather to inflict pain on the elites who cared nothing about inflicting pain on their own citizens.
His living conditions would probably appeal to many in the US who are considering retirement. To all that, add free medical, dental, and gym membership. Where can one signup to commit a crime in Norway?
