Carrying the tactical gaming out of the situation one step further; Joe and Kristen also win themselves a shot at the Dem presidential run -vs- Trump/DeSantis...(it’s been a long time since any Dem has done anything remotely resembling statesmanship, this will be hailed far and wide) and both are from states that usually go Repub in presidential elections. As for Biden/Harris?... If he lives he will retire, and if he doesn’t she will not attempt to be re-elected.
I doubt we will see such a matchup. First I think there is a constitutional prohibition against a President and Vice President from the same state and since the DeSantis seems to be locked into Florida by virtue of his office, Trump would have to move out-an unlikely scenario.
As to a replay of Trump/Harris, I doubt this as well. The current polls show both of them so far underwater that they are unlikely ever to see a nomination, even granting that two years as an attorney in politics and polls could conceivably change.
I rather suspect that Biden's endorsement of Harris was cheap and easy because he knows he will not be running again and therefore will never be put to his word. His cheap and easy endorsement got him past the question and onto naptime.
Best,
Nathan
