No, because 60% don’t speak English and are on the dole.

hen you would agree it makes more sense to negotiate a divorce than risk a civil war.

They tried that back in the 19th century. The other side fought back.

Slavery was a moral and ethical issue. Lincoln made the right choice.

If we were talking about one side that wanted to put humans in overs - and the other side that said, "No, no way"... that would be equivalent.

But that's NOT what's happening today. What'a happening is white liberal 'elites' and their pets want to live one way - and the rest of us want to live a different way. It's not even racial.

More minorities will choose to live with us than with white liberal 'elites' - lots of traditional Americans of all races don't want to live under the delusions of white liberals... So the break isn't even racial. It's just a choice based on the two groups different concepts of 'what is freedom'.. what is citizenship... how tolerant of criminals/crime are we? Do we believe in capitalism or communism? And yes, that is a big part of this...

I believe the country created by white liberal 'elites' and their pets will become a totalitarian, crime ridden, third world hellhole within 30 years. Worse than blue cities in blue states... Open borders will contribute to the destruction. Why should all of us be forced to go down together?

Hey, I completely agree with everything you said. I was just pointing out that the south wanted a divorce, and the north said, nope. the marriage stands, and we’ll fight you over it.

BTW, Harry Turtledove wrote some alternate past science fiction novels where the south won the civil war. What happened was Germany allied with the north, and France and England allied with the south - based on what happened in real life alliances.

It got real ugly during WW I. There was a north American front.

The South wanted the unethical unacceptable practice of owning other people. That’s not wanting a divorce - it’s wanting to keep a system of extreme abuse and exploitation going.

Nice try Cuban - no bananas...

The two situations are not even close.

You are focused on WHY they wanted a divorce. That is a separate subject. That gets into whether they should have been granted one.

I’m just arguing that that is WHAT they wanted. And the north said no.

And yes, I think the north was correct. But at the end of the day it is that one side wanted out of the union and the other side said no, and they went to war over it. That’s all.

And to apply it to today, do we allow a divorce, or do we fight for the union?

Yes, I see your point - but there’s differences...

We fought a Revolution to get a ‘divorce’ from England... But the real issue wasn’t tax so much as we didn’t want to be married to England anymore - for lots of reasons.

But that situation (the founding of our country) is still different from today because England wanted to keep us - for their financial benefit.

In our case - today - both sides want out. That’s why it can be negotiated.

Good point about the American revolution. In that case, the one that wanted a divorce won the war. Sadly, both ended up in war.

Regarding your comment above, I think that’s why any sort of “divorce” today would end in some kind of war. That’s because the “people” are not the one making the decision. They may want out, but the deep state knows that to remain powerful, the nation must not be divided.

I believe that the day the US become divided - literally - is the day that chaos will reign worldwide. And kinda like the breakup of the soviet union, who gets South Dakota’s nukes?

The combination of a hard-left state government (where the GOP has effectively been “outlawed), a hard-left, imbecilically-driven city government, and a still-irrationally frightened, still-irretrievably ignorant and downright stupid populace will seriously impair any future recovery of this once-great American city (one among many throughout the Republic) for decades ... and the citizens of L.A. clearly support this desctuctive, soul-crushing tyranny.
