While I appreciate your thread and the reasoning of most of the posters, there are other alternatives that should concern us.

For instance, any major global circumstances that would give a Biden, Harris, Pelosi, Schumer admin even the flimsiest of reasons to declare martial law.

(Yes, I do spend time thinking of "worst case" scenarios when planning for the future...the habit has kept me alive.)

Not to rain on your survivor parade...but in 1990 the US Army did a study to estimate how much nukes it would take to smash the US's ability to function as a cohesive, controllable government and civilisation. They calculated 10 Megatons total. They also estimated that the combined nuclear weapons of all nuke capable countries to be 5,000 Megatons. Using Hiroshima dead as a metric (100K per 15KT)...5000MT will kill 34Billion people. There are only 7.2 Billion on the planet. So...unless you have some really good friends in a reeeeally far away place...if you're not killed outright, you're gonna wish that you had been. *Keep in mind that the typical city buster strategic nuke is only 350KT* Sweet dreams. :O)
