White House soft-launches COVID-19 test request website

The Biden administration on Tuesday quietly launched its website for Americans to request free at-home COVID-19 tests, a day before the site was scheduled to officially go online.

The website, COVIDTests.gov, now includes a link for "every home in the U.S." to access an order form run by the U.S. Postal Service. People can order four at-home tests per residential address, to be delivered by the Postal Service. It marks the latest step by President Joe Biden to address criticism of low inventory and long lines for testing during a nationwide surge in COVID-19 cases due to the omicron variant.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said the website was in "beta testing" and operating at a "limited capacity" ahead of its official launch. The website will officially launch midmorning Wednesday, Psaki said.

First, you check the made-date on the box, and the expiration date (generally, the expiration date is 365 days after the made-date). My wife was given a test kit last month by her company, with the expiration day on/about 3 weeks later.

If the kit was kept in some warehouse without controlled temperature...it’s probably a 50-50 shot on it still being accurate six months later.

Upon returning from Thailand at DFW Customs they were giving out free Covid test kits. When I started to use it I had to download an app to my phone and then using a Bluetooth connection to test kit providing the relevant data connect to the internet to get test results.

I declined to use that test kit.

By the time these tests get delivered, Omicron will be over, nothing like getting a solution to a problem after the problem has already been solved and is over.

BTW, I hear the developers for this website are the same ones who developed the original Obamacare Website.

They’re not just gathering information, they’re not just gathering information, they’re not just gathering information ..... the he’ll they’re not! Remember that new hit squad that is set up to track people who are/are not getting the shots? Everything they do must be suspect!

Why? What's the point? If you feel sick enough to go to the hospital, then they will test you there. What difference will an at-home test make? None.

Some are from China. One of the largest co’s, Abbot are made in Maine. Quvall?? are made in Ca.

Some are made in Germany

More of the covid test kits manufacturing is coming back to the US which is great as CO’s are building new manufacturing plants.

The market system would get them to truly needy customers much faster.

Let poor folks pay for their test using their SNAP card.

“Colleges imposing an N95 mandate”

I wonder if acadamia knows that the P95 works as well as the N95 plus it also captures particulates.

P95 replacement filters are available at your local home improvement stores.

N95 or P95 are washable and can be soaked in a distilled vinegar H20 mixture.
